I don’t think Doell was “weak” on this one and I don’t think he was wrong. Read it again and you’ll see he just asked questions. The lump sum info was left out of the pension papers Doell worked from.

If it wasn’t weak then he sure didn’t do a very good job proving that he was correct. I would say he did effectively dodge the issue as to whether Cree had in fact received both a monthly pension and a lump sum or not. The only info that was left out was the actual dollar amount that Cree received. I imagine that was a tidy sum and Bethel wouldn’t want that amount to be public knowledge. The pension statements are not that tough to figure out. Even a simpleton like me can figure them out. I am surprised that Doell is saying that this is an issue. If he can’t figure out our pension statement…
My conjecture is that Murdock may win, supplanting Leonard. If Doell loses, it would be likely that Bethel will ignore Murdock’s win, hire Leonard as a consultant, maintain him in his residency and the de facto winner will be Leonard. Brilliant!
did Jose “the enforcer” Leonard get a lump sum on his pension already? I can’t imagine him not taking the huge pile of cash and then staying on the payroll. No question is that if Bethel stays but Murdock wins, Tommy will take take good care of his loyal consigliere.

sorry, I meant Murdock but didn’t AMO also have a guy in Washingtoon by the name Murphy or something similar?
sorry, I meant Murdock but didn’t AMO also have a guy in Washingtoon by the name Murphy or something similar?
We have a guy named Mike Murphy who is the “Government Relations” guy. He isn’t running for Sec/Tres though.
c.captain, this shows that you should lay off the hard stuff before breakfast at least…
like I said…I meant Murdock but somehow Murphy is what my fingers typed.

Look all I am saying is instead of Scotch in your Lucky Charms in the morning, put some beer in them. I mean George Thorogood even had “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer”.
People who are “bad to bone” end up needing a liver transplant.
The music went to crap. I blame the people who support it by buying “music” by Britney Spheres and Justin Beever.
all I can say this morning is…
My head hurts, my feet stink, and I don’t love Jesus.
and now back to the cartoon already in progress…
Ballot alert! Bethel’s mailer says “make sure your dues are paid through the end of the fourth quarter.” The fourth quarter ends Dec. 31 but ballots are counted on Dec.8. Dues arriving at headquarters after that date but before Dec.31 will keep you current, BUT YOUR BALLOT WILL NOT COUNT! Pay your dues by Nov. 30 or YOUR BALLOT WILL NOT COUNT! Nice bit of trickery by Bethel!

Dude,
Really? This is all you got? The fourth quarter starts October 1. Your dues should be paid up including the quarter you are in. Try getting a job in any union if your dues aren’t paid up. How many union elections have you voted in? Every election since I have been with AMO has been that way. I even think Nov. 30th has always been the cut off date.
AND PLEASE PUT IN A FEW MORE CAPITAL LETTERS, IT WILL HELP MAKE YOUR POINT!!!
So here I am, with the mailers, the back and forth, and all I see is a dog and pony show. I’ll admit I’m pretty new to this AMO, though I am pretty used to bullshit politics (I’m from Philadelphia). I’m not going to talk about my vote: whether I did or didn’t or when I did or if I did. But I’m holding my breath. I realize that transportation is just one step in the economic wheel and that if there is nothing to transport, there is no need for transport. And with every ship that gets cut up, that means less jobs for all of us. I’m not too happy with what’s going on nor am I optimistic. Time will tell…

I would have to say this election is pretty tame compared to what I have seen in the past elections. The MAD-2 stuff in the mid-90’s was crazy. This is election seems to be two politicians going after each other. Some people get wound up by all this. By the first of the year the election thing will have died down. Of course, there is always a chance of another lawsuit but the guy who usually sues isn’t running this time. People on this forum and on the internet in general tend to write things that are a bit over the top. They write things that they wouldn’t normally even say out loud.
Just try to block out the noise, do your job to the best of your ability and all will be fine.

Yeah we all know how to count quarters in a year. The problem here is that first time voters can be easily confused by the impression ballots will count if dues are paid through the 4th quarter anytime after Nov. 30 and before Dec. 31. Even you can see what Bethel’s going for here.

So what you are saying is that first time voters who are ignorant and can’t read it in the September issue of the union rag where it is printed twice on page 5 will vote for Doell? It says “Under the guidelines for voting eligibility in Article XI, Section 3 of the AMO National
Constitution, in order for a ballot to be counted a member of AMO must be in good standing through the quarter in which the ballot is to be counted, by no later than November 30 of the
election year. If you are already member of AMO but have not yet paid your membership dues for this entire year, you must do so by November 30, 2014 for your ballot to be counted in the election.” Oh yeah, that is what what Bethel is going for. He wants those first time, ignorant, illiterate Doell votes not to count.
You better put your tin foil hat on because Bethel may try to read your mind.
You’re assuming people read the Tom Bethel-Mike Murphy photo album. And we all know how much the AMO constitution and a secret ballot vote means to Bethel. But why not just spell Nov. 30 out in the campaign stuff and make it as easy as possible?

On the left side of Doell’s website in big letters it says “Dues must be paid by Nov. 30 for your ballot to count”
On the “be eligible to vote” part of Bethel’s website it says " As required by the AMO National Constitution, each AMO member must establish good standing and have his or her dues paid in full no later than November 30, 2014, for his or her ballot to be counted."
I am starting to think that we should have a minimum I.Q. to be eligible to vote…
Anyone see the AMO financial numbers on Doell’s site? Ain’t pretty.
Doell can’t even fill out an AMO expense report. Bethel had to assign a person to do the reports for him and his idiot running mate Murdock. And these guys are trying to figure out AMO finances. Give me a beak!

Yea, they are documented by Doell. The real numbers are posted on the AMO web-site and on DOL’s web-site. They paint a completely different picture than the paper boys numbers.

Read the Constitution dope. Dues are due quarterly in advance. If you want your ballot to count just pay your dues for the year. And if you want AMO to survive vote for Bethel and Leonard.

I think voting for Bethel because he is the best choice to provide job security to the membership makes sense. That is what Unions are supposed to do.

Hey dope, Doell wasn’t tasked with calculating Cree’s pension. He was simply asked to write a retirement story for the paper by the President. He was sent the information simply to show Crees record of employment, years of service and companies he worked for. Doell took a Lump sum so he should be familiar with the process.

Good point. Bethel will have a tough decision to make. Everyone knows that the only official dumber than Murdock is Clemons.
