Anyone see Bethel’s campaign mailer? It didn’t say a word in response to issues Doell is raising. Mostly endorsements from people who depend on Bethel for jobs. No response? Why not?
There is no need to respond. Election is already over. Bethel and Leonard have already won!

Bethel maybe so. Leonard, I am not so sure.
Truth, don’t tell me they’re up to the old ballot tricks again!
Anyone see the AMO financial numbers on Doell’s site? Ain’t pretty.

The numbers are well documented on Doell-Murdock’s website; Doell was Bethel’s personal writer for all of his tenure as President.
pauldoell2014.com; lots of deficit and loss numbers and much more.

Paul (C. Judge),
Thanks for the link to your website. How about you Tom(aka thedon), will you give a link to your website?
The numbers are straight from the AMO controller and Joe Gremelsbacker

Paul(C Judge),
I don’t doubt where the numbers come from. You know what they say “The figures don’t lie but liars figure”. The numbers might even be worse than that.
I don’t think that your website gives AMO members any new info. In particular, the pension thing is a rehash of old material. Everyone who has sailed for any length of time knows that the pension is based on “benefit days”. So is vacation pay. Big shocker there, it has been that way for at least 26 years.
I got a PM from a guy who calls himself Ramon, a guy who has zero posts on this forum. This is the message: Go to Doell-Murdock website and you’ll have your questions answered.

Probably it is Doell. If someone named “Don” gives you a PM, it is probably Bethel.
Well since they’re listening: move the meetings to Duluth. It’s the one place we all frequent! Also, what’s so expensive about renting a hall near Sturgeon Bay in March? Some friends of mine rent a hall for their fantasy football pickings every year. You mean to tell me that a bunch blue collar dudes have better financial sense than the AMO?
If that’s the way it’s been for 26 years isn’t it time to change it? If information is old does that mean it’s not helpful?

Change can be good but change just to change isn’t always good. It has probably been longer than 26 years. I have been in the union that long. Doell putting this out like it is new information is ridiculous. He has been part of the union leadership for longer than the 26 years. He had plenty of time to change things over the years. He isn’t going to change that if he gets into office.
Bethel is no better. He has been part of the union leadership for a long time too. We don’t have many choices in this election of any great distinction. It seems we are getting like the SIU when it comes to our elections. Doell needs a more active campaign. I have received nothing in the mail from him. His only campaign material seems to be his web page. I wouldn’t have known Doell was running except I was curious if Jack Lawsuit Hearn was running again and did a little digging.
Just because it is old information doesn’t mean it is not useful. In this case it is not of much use in a political campaign. Show something fresh against Bethel, not something decades old that is real stretch to connect to him. That will get some votes. There is still some time left…
I can respect your authority but not your comment about tying something fresh to Bethel. The job losses, the financial losses, the missing windfall from the headquarters building, the budget deficits are all current and the sources are in house. Doesn’t look to me like Doell’s been in the leadership, more like he’s been close enough to get a good look. If you’re in AMO you know Hearn wasn’t running and it’s too bad he’s not.

I am not sure of all of Doell’s background. It remains a bit of a mystery, especially him being in the union for so long. His campaign page biography has a few holes in it. He was the union newspaper author. I even believe he was Mike McKay’s mouthpiece. Yes, all of the above can be put on Bethel. Bethel has many issues but I am also trying point out that Doell’s campaign needs to be run a little better than it is. I sailed with Jack Hearn and could write a book about Jack’s weaknesses. I don’t need to get into the details but the union is way better off without him as president. From what I hear, Jack is tied up with a lawsuit against his former employer.
I believe Doell was Bethel’s mouthpiece too.
