I worked for MSC for 4 years. I decided to switch to SIU. I had no issues with MSC until I switched to SIU. Now they have a Block on me from their ships due to a shellfish allergy. They also said No Waivers. This means I can’t use my security clearance. They hired me at MSC knowing about my allergy and even asked that I return to the pool. Now that I am with SIU they are blocking me from MSC ships. Is this legit? Is there a way around it?
Technically allergies are protected under the ADA. So, yes, you should be protected and you absolutely should mention the ADA in an email or correspondence and see what reaction you get.
