Day one:
Rules - 88%
Chart Plot - 100%
Navigation General - 100%
Deck General - 76%
At the REC for seven hours, including my lunch break. Total study time, about one hour (on Rules). (Upon review of my exam I could have passed by reading two of the questions more thoroughly…)
Going back tomorrow for Deck Safety and the rules retake. Goal for tonight, study more rules and get much more sleep.
Congrats. Rules can be a real SOB. Try clearing your mind and let common sense take answer the question!
The ones I missed weren’t common sense though. I’m rusty on the obscure stuff and just need to brush up on the details.
I should point out that this is an exam for the Inland only license, not Master AGT Oceans. (The rules is still the international and inland though.)
Congratulations on a good start Captain !
Good luck tomorrow !
Deck Safety - 90%
Rules retake after some Redbull.
Knock 'em dead, Captain! I plan on taking this in a few months myself.
Rules retake - 94%
I forgot to answer one and had it narrowed down to two answers, one of which was the right one. Oh well.
Great job brother! Now get after that $ raise.

What’d you use for study?
I didn’t study much at all other than rules. I used seasources.net, my old Murphy book, and my old rules notebook. Everything else was essentially taken cold.
Wow nice! Good work! Congrats
Is the crossover from master agt inland to 2nd mate unlimited oceans still available? Have you considered it?
Congratulations.

It’s the only reason I applied for master agt inland. I applied for and was approved for both but I only needed to test for master inland.
Capt. Pheonix… "It’s the only reason I applied for master agt inland. I applied for and was approved for both but I only needed to test for master inland. "
Looks like that one slipped through the cracks, unless you have previously tested for Mate after 2002…
They should have also required the OICNW assessments if you also receive the STCW rating.
Looks like an early Christmas present…
