You do not need to pay to view the job board! I went back and checked like 10 times. It seems to me that the job board is set up outside of the firewall so everyone can view it. Stop talking so much s#*t and take a minute to explore the website.
let me add to say that if this is the birth of that non aligned all inclusive mariners professional association which I have advocated for here for many years now then I say GOOD! It is about time for someone to step up to the plate and form this. For me it has been lots of talk only but I never believed I could be the face of one and that it would have to fall on someone with better street creds to pull it off as well as people closer to Washingtoon than myself.
what I do want to see is a better website for this association with a clear and unambiguous mission statement about what it is they exactly intend to do with the $75 they want for my membership. Since you appear to have contact with the board of this association please forward this to them and tell them they can PM me here and I will disclose my identity to them and offer what I can in way of what I would want then to become. I do not want to see it become some way for people to collect money but not give anything of value in return.
Right now, I must say that the association’s presentation from their website is not very impressive.

I still call BULLSHIT on you because suddenly you appear here to promote this bunch out of the blue right when it is started and seem to be going out of your way to say how great this bunch is and how they aren’t out to just make a buck, even though you don’t know that since you aren’t affiliated with them. You can believe whatever you want, the simple fact is that this thread was started by a dude looking for a job, a friend of mine had told me about this website so i suggested it, dudes had a hard time finding the job board on that site or thought they had to pay to see it so I felt I should clarify that you do not. I only suggested it in the first place because I saw it had a shit ton of jobs posted. Then in your typical fashion you attacked it and I felt that since I had suggested the site, I should defend it. I should have just let your mouth run its course instead of feeding it. It sounds like you have a bone to pick with one or some of the dudes who started the site, take it up with them cause I dont give a fuck. It also sounds as though you believing that I am some how associated with it gives you someone to attack and belittle which is what your gcaptain is all about right?

Hey guys, I’d just like to say a few things…
All this bullshit that has been going back and forth doesn’t help sustain a huge amount of respect this site has gained over the past few years, and it disappointing to see what could be really productive conversation turn into meaningless banter.
Mike and I spend a lot of time ensuring that what we post on the homepage is interesting and engaging material that hopefully contributes positively in some way to your day-to-day jobs.
The Forum, by comparison, it only held accountable to two rules, no personal attacks, racism or similar comments and no self promotional stuff.
It’s done that way on purpose so that you all can say what’s important to you and not feel censored.
It’s up to you all how this Forum will evolve.
If you want 6th grade level chit chat, then keep it up. If you want to converse on a professional level with other professionals, perhaps try to pretend that other people know exactly who you are before you hit “Reply to Thread.”
Some conversations are best left anonymous, I get that, but how we speak to each other should not change depending on whether or not you are anonymous or open.

Master Mariner, First Class Pilot-Alaska, USNR
Jack is a wartime sealift veteran honored for heroism in both the 1990 and 2003 Gulf Wars. Jack began his career in 1974 as an Ordinary Seaman on tugs. He graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy as Regimental Commander in 1979. He has diverse professional experience and over 40 years at sea with post-graduate and professional education and numerous professional service awards. Jack is married with 5 children and lives in Delaware.
I am on record as favoring Hearn to be president of the AMO when he ran for the office only because I believed any person would be better than Tom Bethel. I didn’t know Hearn personally nor ever sailed with the man. Others here decried him as a flagrant self promoter and interested only for one person…himself. I never disputed that because I had no basis to. Now with the words above describing the man I can say that I firmly agree with those who labelled Hearn as not the man to run a major maritime union. Anyone who would say to the world he was a heroic ex regimental commander at KP is not a mariner with an humility whatsoever. Reading this about Hearn instantly made me see him for what others have said here he is which is not a leader. A true leader puts the interest of those he leads higher than his own…I doubt Hearn has that ability and now am highly suspect of his interests here with this group. I suspect there is something here motivating him which has to do with Doell winning the election at the AMO in December. I believe Hearn is seriously pissed off and wants his due!
Now to Zep, I am going to heed Rob’s admonition and will cease at poking you but I will not stop criticizing this group… I expect you to cease your poking at me yourself…you got it in you to…let’s see?
