As some of you may know I’m going on my commercial cruise this summer. We just recieved word a week ago that for the first time there is going to be an oppurtunity to serve on a Belgian flagged Exmar LNG carrier. Instead of doing the normal thing and just letting the school decide who to send (via student picks) they’re having anyone who wants apply from any of the Academies send in a resume and a cover letter. The cover letter has to state three things. Why you want to go on a LNG tanker for your cruise, what this opportunity means for the US merchant marines, and how you will integrate yourself into the crew since you’ll most likely be the only American on board.

So anyways I wrote the letter and updated my resume and turned them in (if there’s anyone from Exmar reading pick Robert M. Hart, he’s pretty much the best). I’ll keep you guys updated on how it goes, hopefully you’ll be reading about the US Merchant Marine’s first LNG commercial cruise in a couple months.
