Hey guys I have a question about owning property in an inland state.
In a hypothetical situation where I was a member of the SIU would it be possible to have my primary residence be in Tennessee and commute to one of the port cities when I need to deploy for some time at sea?
Does anyone here maybe do this now and can help shed light on what that would look like?
Not a big deal. Living close to a city that has a SIU office/hall makes things easier, but it is not a requirement. My son’s home base is near St. Louis, Missouri which has a SIU Hall. It is just a matter of driving into town to register, file for vacation, clear to head back to work. It can certainly be done other places if he wanted.
if you have to sit in the hall all day it’d be conveinent to be able to walk home at the end of the day but fact is, or even probable most mariners live inland. During WW2 it was discovered most people who by choice wanted to go to sea came from the mid-west.
