I just got all my cards and doc’s about 8 months ago. I have my TWIC, MMC, & STCW. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on finding a job. So far the only few places I’ve found hiring are looking for atleast 1 yr experience. I just lost my construction job a few weeks ago due to the company losing a lot of contracts. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I’ve turned in a lot of apps in the past few weeks and still haven’t heard anything back.

You don’t mention where you are located or interested in working?
Sorry I’m in Pensacola Fl and I’m willing to travel pretty much anywhere to work.
I am in Pensacola Fl, and I am searching for any kind of os position or deckhand on any offshore or intercoastal vessels. I am willing to travel anywhere.
I suggest that you contact the Seattle fishing companies. Use google. Deckhand on a salmon tender would be a good place to start. Tell them about your construction experience and that you’re willing to get dirty and work.
There are too many newbies for too few jobs in Florida.
Inland push boat companies are always hiring deckhands. Florida Marine, Ingram Barge, Blessey Marine, Marquette transportation ect.
I was just hired with American Commercial Lines (ACL) to work inland tow. I’m not sure what they’re currently hiring, but they’re a big company so I’m sure they churn them in and out often.
