“My friend who works on one of the HOS govt boats says thats not at all what it is and the story has lots of holes in it. Of course he is a new AB and usually full of shit, so who knows?”
I’d take a grain of salt with anything A chateau on the bayou has to say!
All the HOS boats that work with the sub’s that I have seen have 20ft shipping containers stacked longways on the deck 2-high so they form a “wall” so you can’t really see the sub behind them.
Haha really? Its not like the subs typically hangout in hostile areas off of our coasts. Most of the time they are even at surface they are in the port of whatever base that are at or just out the pass. When the sub’s would come into Pearl Harbor they would be escorted by 4 police boats and usually a smaller naval vessel with guys with machine guns all over the deck. It was a pretty cool scene while we were tied up at the adjacent dock drinking beer and fishing on or off watch time.
The subs are highly vulnerable targets on the surface and one of our most critical assets, so no risk can be overlooked. Blocking them from small arms fire while they transit to and from sea seems a prudent measure in todays topsy turvy world.
Almost was hired by ECO last year…but the two anomalies in my lumbar region nixed that, somehow I’m relieved now. I’ll be happy on my sea going tug out west, towing refined products for the oil majors. Not gloating though, saying this humbly.
Its either boom or bust down here, It will pick back up eventually. The next boom will make it all worthwhile.
Exactly, in 6 months we might all be begging for even time again. The world needs oil, this will pass and everywhere will be hiring and giving out raises again in a matter if time
no fucking way, it will revolve around a KP cadet, or admiral who’s DDG that just happens to be DP-3 magically happens to be on scene, saving everyone yet defying his superiors (corrupt senator). We can’t give c.captain the satisfaction.
How the bayou companies going to deal with union Hollywood?
All I can say is marky marky better be one of the academy grads from the northeast in the marine crew, because there is no way he could change the accent enough to pass for a roughneck named flapjack or scooter.
