I’m reading though the 5th edition of Ship handling for the Mariner, and it mentions this system called CTAN that I’ve never heard of, can’t find anything on google, and I can’t find anyone else who has heard of it.
Graphic presentations on a laptop used in two way based DGPS systems, such as the Panama Canal Innovative Communication tracking and Navigation (CTAN) system, are just as much a communication as spoken messages.
Is this a fancy, old term for like an ECDIS or ECS? I’ve never heard anything called an interactive DGPS system. The 5 edition is from 2018, so ECDIS was defiantly a thing. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
