How To Survive an Election

First year I voted by mail due to this virus shit. Have not been confirmed yet my vote was counted/recieved.

Fair point. Looks like we’ll have to wait until January to find out. All eyes on Georgia.

This is already the case. I’ve never had to register with a party.

Generally this is also already the case.

Vote counting is already monitored. Not sure how or why you could film in a way that doesn’t invade the privacy of the voters name and who they voted for. Monitors have always seemed sufficient.

US candidate 2024

The filming of the counting of anonymous voter ballots does not infringe on anyone’s privacy. The people doing the counting are registered public workers, and the counting should be done in front of everybody in a well lit room.

The ballot should only have the symbol/name of the party/candidate and a box to draw a cross in and the vote should be cast with the pen that is supplied along with the voting ballot box and a privacy screen.

Yes. It’s a little more “official” now. The only one that doesn’t “know” is the one in the White House.

A pretty smooth election all things considered. It’s important to remember that the election was fine. Fifty-one separate jurisdictions doing things their way and then coordinating the transmittal of the results. Only this current president was different. He made it look worse than it was because he loathes the truth in all of its forms. The truth is almost always bad for him. He still hasn’t conceded.

Comparing the U.S. to India is quite bizarre. My ballot had a digital identifier that makes my ballot mine. I don’t know how they do it in India, but I can imagine scribbling inconsequential names on the back of mom and pop lottery tickets.

I think there are a couple lessons from this election:

  1. Mail in voting was one of a couple factors leading to the highest voter turnout by numbers and one of the highest by percentage in US history.
  2. This record enfranchisement should be improved upon, not shunned as fraud.
  3. States new to the mail in game should study the states that have been doing this for decades. States like CO, WA, OR, UT who were amongst the first to report after polls closed and where no one is alleging voter fraud.
  4. Pre-canvasing (sorting, envelope removal, signature verification) of mail ballots should be permitted to occur in advance of election day (as in some of above named states)
  5. Questions, clarifications, legalities around State’s laws regarding vote receipt, postmarking, etc should be answered well in advance of election day.
  6. In Person polling locations should not be reduced, which was shown to lead to long distances and long lines.

In some ways I feel like it’s embarrassing that Biden came so close to losing to someone who was impeached.

Not the blue wave many in my neck of the woods predicted.

Hope he works out for us.

Mail-in voting doesn’t equal high voter turn-out because there were no voters turning out to anything. When you see 100% of mail-in votes for one party being the rule rather than the exception, without even a single one for the other party, this sounds a lot like voter fraud to me. There is no way to make sure that the ballot with your vote was received or that it wasn’t switched for some other. Mail-in ballots do not respect Anonymity in the voting either.

Why is it that the last few elections for the US presidency are so mired in fuzzy counting of the votes?

I have had a response removed twice now. I see this forum allows opinions but only opinions that the left agree with. All I did was suggest that there really was cheating going on…as hundreds of videos and eye witnesses suggest. This forum must be owned by CNN or FB or Twitter! If you don’t like the truth then shut it down. I expected better.

Where to start…

Voter turn out refers to number of eligible voters who voted, versus eligible voters who didn’t. This number was higher this year. I’ve seen this attributed to several things, including the current political climate, Trumps ability to energize his base, and ease of voting through mail in ballots.

If you actually watched the hourly vote count the last few days ( I watched on Fox.com as they seemed to be the most up to date and fasted refresh) you’d see as PA was counting mail in ballots both candidates increased by several thousand every reporting period. So stating “without even a single one for the other party” is straight BS.

But, if you want to know why one candidate received more votes from mail in ballots, its likely because the other candidate tweeted and pleaded for months for his supporters to vote in person and not use mail in ballots. The results are not a surprise to anyone who was paying attention to this.

There is a way to ensure your ballot with your vote was received. Mail ballots are bar-coded. I can go to my states election website and verify my ballot was received and scanned.

Mail ballots do respect anonymity the same way in person does. In person, I hand my ballot to the election official and they scan it. Mail in I sign the outer envelope. The pre-canvaser verifies my signature, and stacks my ballot in its privacy sleeve for scanning. An election official discards the privacy sleeve and scans my ballot.

I used a mail-in ballot this year for the first time. The glue on both envelopes appeared to be good. I didn’t not notice any personal information on the privacy envelope or the ballot itself. But thanks for sharing your experience in some undisclosed country.

India use electronic voting machines and symbols for the candidates since there are still a lot of illiteracy among older Indians.
Voter identity is checked against the national registry and ID Card BEFORE the voters enter the voting booth. Over 600 Mill. votes are counted in one day.

No scribbling anything anywhere. Voting register is digitalized, as is the “ballots”.

Yeah I got an email that you responded and couldn’t find your post after I came here. It’s unfortunate that some people are offended by responses or whatever. Frankly I think it’s weird people flag posts at all. Who cares?

I flagged a post once because the damn poster couldn’t stay on topic and out of principle felt I had to. But something I don’t agree with? Never.

This is a forum for professional mariners. Members who have posted here sufficiently to have established their credentials as mariners are given wide latitude as to what they post or discuss.

This is not the situation in your case. You can expect to have posts that appear to be disinformation to be deleted.

Yup. But true even if I don’t disclose the country. Whoever shared my experience knows.

Sad.

@ Kennebec_captain

“Disinformation” ? So you are saying there was not any evidence whatsoever of cheating in the election. Good luck with that!
I look forward to your apology when the video evidence and eye witness testimony gets a turn in court.
Just to be clear what is your definition of “Disinformation” ? I hope it’s not just having a different opinion. No disrespect intended, just want to know.

In defense of KC, you provided no credible evidence of fraud, when directly asked.
