I am a 500 N.C captain going for my oceans endorsement. My letter of approval says I need to take two exams: Mod. 206 Navigation Problems-Celestial, and Mod. 207 Navigation General-Oceans. I assume 206 is all the stuff I’m studying in my Celestial textbook: altitude corrections, GHA/LHA, pub 209, LAN’s and all the rest; but what is 207? Is it the same Nav Gen stuff I did for Near Coastal like tides, set/drift aids to navigation etc? Just wondering if I need to bone up on that or what. Bigger question though, is, where do you find out about exam subjects. I went through the C.G. website and couldn’t find it but I assume it’s published somewhere. Any help/advice appreciated. Thanks.
Lapware has excellent study guides tailored to the specific level you are going for, and is a great study aid. You’ll need an internet connection.

Capt. Joe’s is also excellent. The program has recently put question filters on for about 30 different levels of licenses, but I’m not sure the program will filter down to the two mods you need.

Have you tried emailing the NMC and ask them about the content?

Whenever you take a test for an Oceans endorsement, that’s not taken with the license testing, you are given (3) tests instead of (1). One is Rules of the Road - which is not required if you took it during the previous year. Then, you have a nav.general-oceans test. This will cover, for the most part, all of the terminology - think time, celestial sphere, navigation astronomy type questions. Don’t be surprised if there are a few easy buoy questions, and a random question about “ice blink”. Key word is “general” with a general test, meaning everything is in play. To be safe, concentrate on Nav. Astronomy, but briefly review all the Nav.General you can. That test if fairly easy and should be no sweat. Last, is the obvious celestial test.
