Help regarding US visa

Hi,
I am a fourth engg and joined a good shipping company last month. They told me to get DC and then they will proceed for my US visa. I called them on first week of May and they asked for scanned documents.I mailed them the same but the thing is its been 15-20 days since sending documents and they are telling me that they are not getting us visa date. They didn’t told me to do anything except wait. I am unable to figure it out that is it correct us visa procedure. Kindly help me out. Its been 5 month since I got my COC but can’t get a ship. Please reply.

Probably takes 15-20 days just receive, route, and process their mail. Visas or anything that involves any US Government office could take many weeks if not months, What ship company are you dealing with?

You know, I could be a very mean SOB here and say something snide about staying home in your own waters and not come here to this forum talking about getting a Visa which is taking away a job from an American mariner but I won’t.

That’s why I switched to American Express! I never leave home without it!

China … the place that makes all the stuff for Walmart.

I worked for an English port engineer who refered to me as the 4th engineer at MSC Pacific. I hated it. As you work there, you play there. He was a good guy and as a an Englishman he was a real good sort. I am now a C/E what am I now? Nothing exceptinail!

Geez man, chill out. In the rest of the world the chief is the First Engineer, the guy we call the 3rd is the Fourth Engineer. Who cares what you are called as long as they call you for watch, meals, and payoff?

China makes US seaman get a visa to go ashore there and that was over a hundred dollars back 6 years ago. It only took one day to get it.
