Modern diesel engines in large vessels can be over 15 meters tall and weigh more than 2,000 tons.

Looks like that diesel engine are being loaded onto a West India Line vessel. (cannot see the name, or when and where this happeded.

I was MWS during several loading operations on WIL vessels in Japan in 1976-78. Client was ARAMCO and the cargo was various component for gas cathering and desalination projects in Saudi Arabia:

PS> Didn’t realise that any of the WIL vessels still existed and active

Another old post that mention WIL vessels (among others):

PS> On LinkedIn it appears that some think that this is somehow in breach of the Jones Act (??):

It is built in Turkey, being transported from Turkey to San Diego on a Dutch flag HLV and will not transport anything between US ports once in operation.
Which part of the JA is broken?

Last year Jumbo Shipping, SAL Heavy Lift and Intermarine formed the JSI Alliance offering world-wide heavy-lift transport solutions with a large, modern fleet. The cooperation became very visible as INDUSTRIAL DOLPHIN (ex BBC DOLPHIN, orig. HENRICUS J) now features the new SAL livery with an Intermarine hull marking. The 8,000 tdw vessel passed Kiel July 18th on her way from Poland westbound and is scheduled within the Intermarine US East Coast - South America service later in August. She was built in 2007 in Portugal as part of a series of multi-purpose cargo vessels with two 250t cranes for the Jüngerhans group.

The HLV “GPO Sapphire” passed by in Bjørnafjorden, on its way to the USA.

On deck she has a power transformer that will deliver electricity from offshore wind turbines to shore. Over 100,000 households in New York will benefit from this case. Many thanks to pilot Martin for the tip about the passage!

The large penguin population in southern Chile often sees many vessels sailing by daily. However, they haven’t seen the world’s largest semi-submersible heavy transport vessel in quite some time. For the first time in over a decade, the
BOKA VANGUARD has sailed through the Strait of Magellan, passing by Punta Arenas in Chile. Not only did the penguins rub their eyes in surprise, but the inhabitants of the world’s southernmost major city were also impressed.
