Greetings from Norway

They get to wear armor in order to hit with 3x power. As children we used to play “rugby”. We called it “Smear the Queer”.

S’ okey

We call yours pansieball

Or sometimes

Qu££r ball

Be perfectly honest pansieball is so insignificant most of us really don’t think about it.

Football is played globally.

Pansieball is played, where exactly?

Why are we not talking about the pansieball final.

Cos no-one is interested.

Oh apart from one country :sob:

Can’t even get the kick off on time

In all seriousness, I have a culturally curious question about this:

This is the second time within months that I’ve heard this sentiment being expressed this way, and so it raises two questions:

Firstly, would I be correct in assuming that this is some kind of “pub argument” or “pub consensus” originating from within the UK or Commonwealth? And would I further be correct in assuming that these discussions are poorly attended by any advocates for the NFL type power?

And secondly, is this hyperbole, or is the mechanical advantages of NFL type armor seriously being ignored? Or is it really that rugby guys are subjectively tougher guys?

Boring Vs cheats

At least we get to see the best player in the world.

Rodri

I could give you a frivolous answer questioning your knowledge of geography.

Or I could be serious.

#1 Since when was Argentina, Italy and Uruguay part of the commonwealth?

#2 Pansieball is not usually discussed in Pubs as it is a minority interest sport. Probably on the same interest level as Curling.

Objection. Non-responsive. Move to strike.

On a lighter note, I predict that after the 2028 Olympics, you will see an explosion of interest in a variant of american football called “flag football”. It’s a non-contact version that can sometimes feature co-rec teams.

Can I assure you that even with the useless twats that are running FIFA and UEFA and the English FA and with that borefest that happened at half time and with the borefest that is happening right now by the most boring team in international football playing the most dirty.

In 2028 Football will still be the most followed sport in the world by a country mile while we still have entertainment like the third place game that no one wanted to play and I swore I was not Going to watch on principal.

But thoroughly enjoyed last night.

How wonderful if that could have been the final that everyone except FIFA wanted.

I wouldn’t go for a beer in the wrong pub in New Zealand, South Africa or even Wales if I was you.

(grinning broadly) Hehe. I can read a room. I’d be smugly and silently content in the knowledge of what science says on the subject. But if it’s really just advocating the position that the rugby boys are as tough as american footballers, I wouldn’t even flinch. But tougher? I’d need to see the math.

Me I would say sir to any of them. I remember being suitably awed when I saw “The Refrigerator “ many years ago in Chicago. On a recent flight a now retired All Black lock was on the flight and at 6 foot 7 inches and 276 pounds with the anaerobic fitness to play a full 80 minutes topped with the speed to catch you if you tried to run I am happy to have him on my side.

Hockey players are finding this football v. rugby dick measuring contest highly amusing.
Real men wear pink.

Queen Sonja was not present at the royal palace in Oslo when the Norwegian football team was invited for a reception. Instead she sailed with the royal yacht to Jarfjorden, only few kilometres from the border with Russia. Photo: Atle Staalesen

Not bad for a couple of 89-year olds, who have been together since they went to school together at 17-18.

They have been married since 1968:

Just an ordinary summers day (or night?) in Longyearbyen:

Rush hour is unbearably busy.
