Which part of NO¨THANK YOU is it he don’t understand?:
https://www.politico.com/news/2025/03/14/donald-trump-greenland-threats-00231421

OK, it is probably “Thank you” since it is words he doesn’t use much.

PS> If he hear those words it is probably because somebody try to flatter him and manipulate him.

Never understood why anyone would think the Greenlanders would turn over their sovereignty to the USA.

Would Saudi Arabia with all its wealth turn over its sovereignty to the USA? They got smart a century ago and kicked out their British ‘advisors’ and have done very well for themselves.

Ditto the tiny city-states of Dubai and Qatar.

If Greenland is as rich in natural resources as President Musk says it is, Greenlanders stand to be even richer per-capita than the richest Saudi.

Why would they give that up to be herded onto a reservation?

They threw out the American Oilcos (ARAMCO) by 1980:

It is not likely to hurt US economy, but speaks volumes about the Greenlander’s attitude towards Trump’s proposal to make them all millionaires:

For Some reason they don’t trust him on his words, I wonder why?

More details here:

If the host tells you; “you are not welcome here”, maybe you should consider not to visit. In this case it is also a question of diplomatic curtsey for Denmark and Greenland and lack of the same by USA:

PS> To send high up official to go “sight seeing and visit dog sledge races” is NOT very believable.

When this is done as new Greenlandic Government is being formed after an election, could be considered influencing and interference in internal affairs by a (no longer friendly?) foreign power.

PS> Has any country ever insisted on sending high ranking officials to USA against the wishes of the US Government?

Sending military transport plans loaded with armored vehicles and god knows what else, to a place with no roads outside the capital and a few larger settlements,
sounds like an overkill: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x9gpni8

No doubts there will be a US security presents to guard the “sightseers” on their walkabout in Nuuk and running with the dog sledges in Sisimiut: https://visitgreenland.com/destinations/sisimiut-4/

PS> How much will this “holiday trip” coast the US taxpayers?

Another “holiday maker” has announced his unwanted visit to Greenland:

Vance to travel to Greenland on Friday

The vice president said he would join his wife and visit a Space Force base to “check out what’s going on with the security there.”

Vance on Tuesday said he would travel to Greenland’s Northwest coast on Friday to visit a Space Force base and “check out what’s going on with the security there.” He will be joining his wife, Usha, who announced earlier this week she would travel with her son to see the national dogsled race. Vance’s office said Tuesday the visit to the Space Force base would occur instead of the dogsled race.

Outgoing prime minister Múte B. Egede on Sunday called the American posture toward Greenland “very aggressive” and “so serious that the level cannot be raised any further.”
“The only purpose is to demonstrate power over us, and the message is clear,” he added.

PS> Which part of “you are not welcome here” is it so hard to understand?
Anyone with common decency would call off a planned visit if the host don’t want you there and nobody in authority want to meet you.

What is wrong with Greenlanders. May be they have not seen videos from Rio Grande . Millions pilgrims dream to join the paradiso . They do not have to walk 1000 miłe perilious journey. Just stay where they are and worry abt nothing.

Look at Ukraine. They Lost 1000000 of their best sons in bitter war to give US their minerals and NPPs.
Beats me.

According to Musk a few Greenlanders are sitting atop an enormous amount of wealth.

They will be the Saudi Arabia of the North when it comes to rare metals.

Why would they give that wealth away? The Saudis never did.

They did, to ARAMCO for many years.
They did take back control of their oil wealth eventually, though.

Maybe the Greenlanders have learnt from what happened to the Saudis and not let some greedy foreigners come and take their land and seas, with all it holds.

I was of the impression that bullying was something that only happened in kindergartens and primary schools, but maybe some never grow out of it?

" Maybe the Greenlanders have learnt from what happened to the Saudis and not let some greedy foreigners come and take their land and seas, with all it holds. "

May be there are some like Greenlanders who have much more land and more seas and more what is under also capable of learning from history how much the greedy foreigners are and capable of taking and what they are capable of to take it .

Any idea who the “some like Greenlanders” may be and who the greedy foreigners are ? :winking_face_with_tongue:

OMG looks like somebody have changed their mind about forcing their presents on people that don’t want to meet them, see them, or talk to them:

So they will only visit a place where they don’t risk meeting any “unfriendly natives” that may tell them to F.U.
That is how you; “learn what is going on in Greenland”

PS> If anybody think that is because they feel ashamed, or have learnt common decency, they are WRONG!!
It is because of something else important is that is going on in Washington DC. that hinder their travel companions from coming along.

Meanwhile the US Air Force sent two Hercules transport plane to collect the security equipment brought in to secure the safety of the “holiday makers” while they could view their local admirers form behind bullet proof windows.

PS> I’m sure at no MAJOR cost to US taxpayer.

Remember; it is not a shame to turn around if you have made a stupid mistake:

DW report on the illustrious visit to Greenland:

Apparently even US officials (tourists?) eventually get the message when they are given a cold shoulder by their unwilling host:

There was one Greenlander that was very friendly to Donald Jr. during his visit:

Jørgen Boassen appears to be the only friend US visitors to Greenland can find these days:

Some don’t even travel to Greenland to get a picture with Jørgen.

Greenlanders are uniting against the “Kindergarten bully” that wants to get in the sandbox and steal their toys:

Now VP Vance have spoken on Greenlandic soil (although not in front of any Greenlanders)
In what has become normal for US officials he behaved like a bully. No diplomatic niceties, or common curtesy as a guest (although unwanted) in a foreign land:

PS> At least he had a friendly audience at the US base. :rolling_on_the_floor_laughing:

For those who have the interest, time and stamina, here is the entire Vance show:
