Lots of talk about Greenland lately, but not all that much actual factual information.
Here is a bit of facts to start off this thread:
The Geo-strategic value of Greenland
Who is going to pay for the cleanup of the mess left behind by US forces in pristine landscape on Greenland?
You should read the World War 3 preparedness book that your government sent out to all of itâs citizens last year to see if it is covered in there. But considering Russia has invaded a country less than 1,000 miles from your border (twice), 2 of your closest neighbors recently joined NATO out of Russian aggression fears & youâre still anti-American as ever, I suspect Putin would appoint you mayor, constable or some other low level political position if he set up a puppet government in Norway like he did in Belarus, Abkhazia, Transnisteria & Crimea. Youâd be a prime candidate & would do great.
Are the US forces leaving??? That is a DISASTER !!!
Any chance for a download link in english ???
Looks to me Nordic states are not the only ones with ww 3 prep work
How to Survive World War 3: Preparation Guide and Information
The MSB, I think Swedens version of the Department of Homeland Security has a downloadable English copy. But I wouldnât worry about reading it & suggest watching the 1984 version of Red Dawn about 200 times instead. Thatâs what I did.
If that was a vague reference to my apprehensive faculties then i must dissapoint You. Slavs learn faster - see Ukr adaptation to new US wunderwaffe
From the quoted BBC article:
It was just on the news today that a part of Trøndelag County has been without power for 3 days due to extreme weather during the weekend. It could be another 2-3 days before power is fully restore to some remote locations.
That is the biggest treat for Norway these days.
Yes we are aware of our closeness to Russia and the danger of a 3rd world war, but it is not likely that Russia would cause such an event.
There are other treats in the world that is as likely to be the trigger.for WWIII.
Would the scenario as described above be same if your energy supply was based on disel engines running with coal power on stand by?
What if whatever foe attcas U choosing such a perfect moment when there is too much wind or not wind at all and as I know ( may be i am wrong ) the sun does not shine there
No, I said that because Iâve watched Red Dawn about 200 times.
Say what you want. I know climate change & global warming gets the blame for everything but Iâm pretty sure Finland & Sweden didnât undergo a humongous paradigm shift by joining NATO in '23 & '24 because of âextreme weatherâ & fear of being cold.
Why are we talking about Greenland? Which country is the only military threat against the USA? China. What hunk of land is the absolute farthest from China? Greenland.
The only plan that makes sense is to invade Australia. Make it the 51st state. Easy, warm, and most people speak English there. Bonus: itâs like the toll booth to China. Hell, charge $5 every time a ship passes by to and from China and West Arizona will pay for itself .
And Australians are stealing our jobs. Everyone is talking about it. Very unfair. Liam Hemsworth snuck in through Southern border and stole the movie part of âThorâ from Tom Brady. Sad. If Australia doesnât pay 25% tariffs on their actors we have to invade.
No, the problem was overhead power lines being cut by falling trees:
This was caused by a storm named Eowyn.
FYI: More than 98% of the electric power supply in Norway are renewable. Hydroelectric answer for nearly 90% of this while Wind & Sun cover most of the restâŚ
The 1% that is gas powered are on offshore oil & gas production platforms (although some of those are now supplied by cable from shore)
A standby gas power station that was installed at Mongstad has been closed down as it was never used. It was proven âsurplus to requirementâ.

The problem with high power prices in SW Norway at times comes when the wind doesnât blow in the Southern North Sea and on land in NW Europe and the prices shoots up there.
Then SW Norway export hydropower to the rest of Europe via power cables, so the prices in that part of Norway shoots up to. Everybody is complaining.
PS> When the wind blows and the sun shines in NW Europe the spot price in SW Norway sometimes drops to Zero (or even negative at times)
NOBODY complains and want to" cut the cables" then. (They work both ways)
Not many Greenlanders want to become Americans:
That is wrong. The number of daylight hours per year is the same anywhere in the world, even at the Poles. (And in Poland)
The problem is that in Norway daylight comes in âlumpsâ, thus not very suitable for continuous electric power supply. (OK in the summers though)
PS> You donât need bright sunshine to produce electric power using voltaic solar panels, but it helps on the efficiency.
I believe this 100%. Makes sense to me.
First I would like to say I really donât care what the good people of Greenland decide to do or donât do. Itâs there business alone & I wish them luck. But I wonder how many of that 85% would change their minds if Trump & Congress offered the 58,000 people of Greenland a half million US dollars each if 65% of the population voted to leave the Kingdom to become a US territory for 50 years? $500k multiplied by 58k would be a bargain for the US imo.
Why not pay them in wampum? Better yet, we could carve out little bit of land on the great big island and move them all there. They could run casinos and sell tax free gasoline. Win-win for everyone!
Have you though of the possibility that the majority of the population of Greenland value their freedom to live their life as they want and are used to, more then they do getting a lot of money that will last for a short time only.
Aside from Nuuk (pop. <20K) and a couple of âlargeâ settlement on the west coast Greenlander still live a fairly traditional lifestyle. They fish, hunt seals and whales as well as polar bears, reindeers and muskox, They live a simple life in simple houses:
They do use modern amenities, like electricity and have shops, health clinics etc. in even relatively small settlements, They use snowmobiles to get around on land and sea ice for most of the year and outboard motors for their boats in the summer season. (But they still keep kayaks and sledge dogs as well).
If they should be forced to adopt the US âwelfare systemâ (incl. healthcare, pension scheme etc.) and living the US âhigh lifeâ, even $500K wouldnât last long with Greenland prices for goods and services.
PS> Are you talking about a 50 yr, lease, or "buying " Greenland from Denmark and making into a permanent âUS territoryâ in some form?
Letâs me say again, Iâm not advocating for Greenland becoming a US territory or not. While I think the US would benefit greatly I do think the people of Greenland would eventually get the short end of the stick unless WW3 broke out & they were bombed or conquered by folks more oppressive than the US Government.
Have I thought about the proud people of Greenland loving their relationship with the Kingdom of Denmark more than they would love a half million US dollars & a similar, lower tax rate, worse healthcare system, relationship with the US? Absolutely. But I have read some Shakespeare, studied the ancient history of Ireland/Scotland & their relationship with England, watched season 1 of the Squid Games & know why the majority of the citizens of Saudi Arabia didnât participate in the Arab Spring. I think I know plenty of proud red blooded Americans (including MAGAâers) who would probably give up their US citizenships for the Kingdom of Denmark for a cool half million US dollars. Thatâs why I pondered how many folks from Greenland could be bought? I wonder if the citizens of Greenland are the exception to history, the love of money & human history/nature?
Answer to PS. Territory for 50 yrs then a vote by Greenland residents in 50 years for statehood, stay a territory, independence or go back under Kingdom of Denmark if theyâd have them.
I think their economy, for better or worse, would explode as a territory with US capitalists moving there by the tens of thousands to get in on the ground floor. But actually, my sincerest & deepest hope would be the liberals who have been fleeing NY, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Jersey, Illinois, California & Washington would start moving to Greenland instead of the Carolinas, Florida, Tennessee, Texas & Idaho. The way things are going those fleeing those blue states will eventual turn those red states into shitholes too & weâll need new territory for them to ruin.
