Later in the briefing, Vice President Mike Pence responded to Alexander’s initial question, saying, ”Do not be afraid, be vigilant,” and went on to explain that the risk of serious illness for most Americans is low. Now THAT is how our leaders should behave in a crisis. Kudos to the Vice President.
I don’t think it’s multiplying, just increasing in amplitude.
I’m sure the guy in the ventilator will be glad to hear it.
Senator Burr was one of 3 senators who voted against the Stock Act.
When people begin to trade barbs, it can become a problem. My post has zero to do with political content. You don’t need to convince that part, at least to me, but you are obviously free to do that. More to the point, it doesn’t need to become personal and that’s usually where the line gets drawn. Disparagement means with each other more than anything, and that tends to happen in disagreement with political content. It’s getting close to that. The (edited to add FAQ as was pointed out) highly discourages politics only for that reason. My post was in the context of what we all agreed to, nothing more.
If the virus causing havoc in the US and around the world can be called “the China virus” maybe the dire situation in the US because of unpreparedness can be called "the Trump havoc??
I remember driving through rural Virginia at the same time and noticing the same thing: that the ratio of Trump signs to Hillary signs was at least 10 to 1. I still was surprised when he got elected.
As someone else said (@Sand_Pebble?), we’re in deep doo doo. I’ve ignored Trump’s shenanigans because he’s actually been working to fulfill his campaign promises to enforce the country’s laws. If you don’t like them, don’t kill the messenger; take it up with Congress,
It’s easy to use him as a punching bag by focusing on his painfully inept performance in the daily briefings. Let’s move past his bloated ego and blatant lies, and look beyond the current crisis.
I know it’s anecdotal but the issue was brought out into the open for me last night. I was having a phone conversation with a friend who has a bad case of TDS. After we commiserated about Trump’s dismal performance in the daily briefings, he brought up the fact that we would soon be able to get rid of him by electing Joe Biden.
I mentioned that Joe would be turning 80 a few years into his first term and that he was already exhibiting brain freeze a la Hillary. I also expressed my concern that Biden’s open border/sanctuary/free health care leanings would bankrupt the nation.
Oh don’t worry about that he said, he’ll never do it, those are just campaign promises.
So I’m supposed to feel good about swapping Trump for a lying legacy politician who’s about to kick the bucket? Is this some kind of nightmare?!? Why shouldn’t I be worried? Politicos, please explain.
As was I. My phone was ringing off the hook the next day about impending doom. My mother and sisters were apeshit. They didn’t mind the returns they enjoyed in their portfolios, nor the reduced taxes over the years Now that this virus thing has reared it’s head thru nobody’s fault, the criticism has been"Verified". The Donald has made me scratch my head more than a few times, that is a fact, he doesn’t take shit from terrorists, and wants us to do well. This market evaporation thing is a result of something this country has not experienced before or ready for in any way. It will mark us for quite some time, no matter who is in office We were doing quite well before this bug hit us. ALL of us. Certainly the Dems are foaming at the mouth, they have been since Hillary was smiling one night and pissed the next morning. Attacking ever since. At least while this guy is President, at least a little support would be helpful in these trying times. P.S. I did not vote for him, but he is our guy now, get a friggin grip. Grapes are on sale again this week.
Where’s my post? I pointed this out. You said TOS, I said neither TOS or FAQ referred to ‘highly discouraging’ politics—-And now it’s gone, your post edited?
And subsequent posts very political… and unaccosted.
Glad to. Biden cares about being correct and will surround himself with moral, ethical people who won’t fluff on national TV and be able to assemble an actual cabinet instead of a bunch of acting’s cause no serious administrators of any level of competency would rather die that work for the current President. And the concern about lying is impossible as a negative when compared to Trump who has thousands of documented falsehoods for the least of reasons. Does no one remember he made a national address at a time of crisis and referred to the wrong city?!? Toledo Trump is not fit for office on either a temperamental nor a competency basis. Send him to a golf course he seems to like that and since he’s the only dude who could lose money on casinos?? Yeah, let’s not mourn the ‘businessman president’.
Why shouldn’t you be worried? One politico cares about life. Obama/Biden led during a Democrat sweep of government. They used it to pass access to health care. The latest guy passed a tax cut, lost the House and then pretended that he only cared about immigration, walls and things that benefit the one percent and racists. Biden will care about improving life for all Americans, respect the rule of law and the will of the electorate.
James, Grapes are still on sale until wednesday, better hurry. Not your fault if you don’t make it in time, right?
I dunno… but I should warn you
Refer to my opening caveat.
There’s a fundamental difference between partisanship and subjective analysis. In a nutshell, partisanship covers “feelings” and political philosophy. Subjective analysis tries to discern and describe the facts and circumstances as they are. You won’t be hearing any feelings from me.
The main difference between the two candidates is profound. One has a fully functional brain (albeit old) and is reasonably intelligent. The other one has been described as the dumbest student his professor ever had. One knows how government works, and the other has absolutely no idea. In terms of this crisis, it appears as though the basic levers of government are a mystery to the administration.
Right… You get to rant and rave (really? Golfing again??) But the other side must be shut down… Typical…
I’m the one with a missing post where I question where highly political posts are discouraged in The TOS or FAQ as Anchorman said they were. He was trying to shut down freighterman for a post that was in no way disparaging. But I guess free speech defense only applies for some. And I don’t rant not rave. I leave that for the pros. Remind me, which of the current President’s lies are you OK with at a time of national and world crisis? Just want to make sure I have your position down.
Yeah… You do… Biden cares about truth?? Will surround himself with ethical people?? Hitting on Trump for a gaffe and then promoting Mr. Gaffe?? People who are pro border are racist??
I’m more anti you and your ilk than I am pro anything Trump.
You should have my position down now.
Anchorman, I received your message sent off the forum. You are in the wrong to delete the post I sent. You were not attacked by me personally and deleting the post is as inappropriate as the warning you gave Freighterman for materials not in the TOS or FAQ as I pointed out, and you apparently agreed and changed your post. Place the original post back up, and apologize for suggesting the rules were infringed by Freighterman, and censoring my post with no reason since I did not engage in ad hominem. If you felt my addressing you as ‘Super Moderator’ was ‘personal’ you should read it as my evaluation and reminder of your apparent responsibility to apply the TOS properly and within their own constraints—-which, as I pointed out, you didn’t.
Ok, on three, everybody take a breath.
Does grasping at straw provide you with a feeling of comfort?
No, not since there so much demonstrable records of honesty and integrity available for both candidates. For instance, Biden never owned stock since he joined Congress. Your turn!
