Any ideas on pay raises? For AB’s?
Also going for my 1600 ton mates ticket. How much are they paying mates?

Last I heard it was $500
Yup, have friends there now, $500 a day is the most recent OSV mate’s pay that I know of. I heard Nicky Collins say not too long ago that their pay-scale tops out at around $1400 a day for their Brazil captains.

Top I have heard is $950 on a 6000 ton boat. Maybe $970 for master after the foreign bonus of peanuts.

Hey now, don’t shoot the messenger. This is from Nicky Collins’ mouth to my ears. Whether its true or not I could not possibly say but since he’s the head of their HR department, or chief recruiter, or whatever his title is, I would venture to say that he is a reliable source. I am 100% sure that I did not mishear him. He said “Captains on our boats in Brazil are getting as much as $1400 per day”. Take that statement from whatever angle you so chose, good, bad, or otherwise.
If you want to be a captain in brazil, then all the power to you…
Nicky also told me if I didn’t take a crap job with them years ago he was forcing on me I’d be screwed for good in this business.

Too damn hot for me
Too damn hot for me
Obvious you never worked in Brazil. Yes the northern part of the country is very hot. However from Rio south, it stays fairly cool almost all year down there. In fact I have been to Copacabana beach in late May early June and wish I had brought a jacket, it was cold. We worked down south close to San Sebastasian for over a year and we saw seals on a almost daily basis in the open atlantic. It was actually very cool down there year round.

Oh god! Impanema! Another place from a song I didn’t know was real…
It’s not the beach itself that is so amazing and worth seeing but rather what is on those two beaches!
study these photos carefully class…they’ll be a test afterwards
and
now class…how do you say “Holy Christ!..I want some of that!” in Portuguese?

That is easy all you need to do is make eye contact and hold up some $$$$, they will come running. You don’t even need to speak the language.

That’s A bold face lie! Top MASTERS pay on three boats is 970.00/day and you will not get it. You’ll get 20.00/day over Gulf pay and that’s it! New hires at ECO with 6000 and DP get 715/day max right now! Anything else you hear on this blog or anywhere else is total bullshit!
