Wow, why so angry?
Not angry.

Hi Robby,
When i started on the Carolyn with a Mate’s ticket it was 500/day, they might bump you a bit once you get your DPO. Hope all is well over there! I’m glad I made the jump - even with the pay cut!

so what do AB’s make?

300/day…

300 a day is with rigging pay. I believe normal ab pay is 280 a day. With no raise in sight I recommended you look to one of the other companies if your looking for a larger pay check…

Mates are 500ish, no equal time. Not a bad job at all if you want to move up the food chain. There are plenty of opportunities for good boat handlers/paperwork generators. I enjoy it, but I’m not making 500/day anymore and Im working equal time.

There is even time if are aggressive about looking for it.

ECO Captains working in Brazil with 6000 ITC are making $870/day, and whichever Capt. is running lead is making $970/day. Chief Engineers are at $870. I’m a newhire at Chouest and awaiting my brazilian work visa. All the $1400/day and $715/day comments are complete fabrications. I also find it hard to believe that Nicky Collins threatened someone that if they didn’t take a crappy job they would be ruined…considering he gets hundreds of calls a day for every position, not to mention he’s a great guy. There are rumors floating around about a pay raise since Harvey seems to be stealing all the licensed personnel and rumors of a Hornbeck pay raise of $100/day across the board. I’ll believe the raise rumors when I see them in my check though. My orientation class was slam full and they had to call people the night before to tell them to not show up because they were overbooked. If you’re gonna create a b.s. rumor, why not make it interesting and say it’s $2500/day with your pick of a Tropicana swimsuit contestant for the hitch?

I got the impression that was a few years ago when companies couldn’t get enough people.

I’m fairly certain we are getting a raise as I heard it from our manager, who doesn’t lie or exaggerate. His words were a “bump” in pay, which could mean $5 a day. No idea when it will happen though.

Yeah, not present day.

Guess you had to be there. He may be a good guy but he can be a used car salesman if he wants to.

Anyone know Nicky Collin’s email address?

Yes.
But sending an email seems pointless if you can’t be in their office in person with your bags packed and ready to go.
School is out and the cadets are here. Makes me wonder if any entry level spots that might have been available will be filled by cadets?

May as well delete your email before sending it. Save Nicky a click.

Where are you getting this information, are you actually on a non-specialty 6000 ITC supply boat in Brazil making these wages, and have you seen the paychecks of the other captains and engineers you are sailing with? We have been told that the 6000 ITC boats are the SAME pay as regular supply boats ($770/$870), unless the 6000 is a specialty vessel, in which case everyone gets $970, both lead and second positons. Based on what you are saying, everyone benefits on a 6000 ITC except the chief engineer, who gets the same pay as regular supply boats, seems a little off. Not saying that you are lying, but perhaps you are misinformed or being lied to by someone that wants to “believe” these numbers are true!

What non specialty 6000 ton boats are in Brazil? The Stim Star boats and the Joe Griffin (ROV) are all I know of.

Ha, can’t wait til this new hire gets his first check. He will then realize he has been bamboozled.

The only thing I can say is that a good friend of mine was working on a new build specialty vessel in the GOM and was offered a gig to work in Brazil. He was told he would make close to $1,000/day (give or take) and when visa’s were being processed that number was reduced to roughly the same amount as mariners here in the GOM. Naturally, he told them there was no incentive to leave his new vessel here and work on an older vessel, make the long flights and deal with the BS so he wasn’t making the move. And he has actually shown me his paycheck as I didn’t believe what he was making here in the GOM being times were slow (this was last year).

Bongo (supply), and soon the Kudu (fuel/supply).
