Delgado vs Sea School

Has anyone used Delgado over Sea school for thier Apprentice Mate steersman? Is it the same course? The price is nearly the same (Delgado being a little cheaper) but my company is pushing me towards Sea School. Im paying for this myself.

One thing to consider if price is a major factor is cost of nearby lodging. Decent places to stay in the New Orleans area can be quite a bit more expensive than southern Alabama. But if things to do & more dining options are more important then Delgado wins out. Lastly, Sea School are for profit schools. I’ve never heard of anyone failing an Apprentice Mate Steersman course but if they have I’d bet it wasn’t at a Sea School.

One advantage of sea school is they provide a bunk and 3 meals and day with your course.

You can always just test at the REC instead of taking a class. That will save a lot of money.

As too the 2 schools, I always favored bayou labatre because food and lodging was included.

The way I understand Delgado has their steersman course set up, you will only come out with the apprentice mate. With Sea School, you will come out with 100 ton Master, 200 ton Mate and apprentice mate.
