Crowley ATB question

Does anyone know if some ATBs take oilers ? Either SIU or IBU doesn’t matter to me.

When I worked on the Resolve/650-class boats shortly after they came out, we sailed with one chief and two assistant engineers but no oilers. The plan was to cut back to one assistant after a year or two. I don’t know if that ever happened as we had enough work to keep all of us busy.

I have no idea how the Reliance/550-class or Legacy/750-class boats are staffed.

When I worked on Reliance/550 class, there was a Chief and Assistant. 28 & 28 rotation. There was only one assistant, so he split his hitch between the 2 chiefs. Rest of the time there was just a chief onboard. Seemed strange for a 9200hp ATB. All 4 Reliance/550 class and 1 or 2 650 class are MMP/IBU. The rest of the ATB Fleet ( 11 or 12 boats ) are SIU top to bottom. Not sure if the big dual fuel boats carry oilers.

When I worked on the 750’s we had a Utility. 750’s run with Chief, 1rst, 2nd, 3rd engineers. There are two utilities on board, deck and engine. The engine utility works in the engine room while underway, but in port works 6/6 on deck during loading/discharging of cargo. They also stand barge watch while maneuvering.

What are those IBU ? I have a Number to the petroleum manager for Crowley is that who call for ATBs ?

Minus the few AMO officers leftover from the pass through agreement, everyone is SIU Inland. I would call you contact they will know how direct you.
