Chouest gives Employees the SHAFT!

[QUOTE=Chief Seadog;155722]So says the guy who owes his livelihood to the place. Not to be critical, but I do find it interesting the love/hate relationship from those that attended KP.

It is interesting that most of the KP grads I run across have a right wing or libertarian leaning towards no government. This is in spite of the fact they were educated sucking on the government boob. Therefore they can’t be that bright and the education there that great or else there would not be that dichotomy. Unlike many I never thought a KP’er was much competition job wise. I have met a few excellent ones and some excellent hawsepipers. You take 'em where you can find 'em. By the way, I do NOT consider a hawsepiper to be a limited mariner. Limited mariner is one who may become a hawsepiper if they stick with it. The main reason ECO and others can do as they wish now is because the OMSA has thru the USCG created a low barrier for entry. There are plenty out there and more on the way. A limited license is the equivalent of a high school graduate now. Easily replaced day labor as soon as things pick up in a year or two and no where else to go if the industry doesn’t bounce back. Walmart doesn’t need limited DP masters but the limited chiefs might be able to change oil and tires. The bright spot is the wages will be so low they’ll qualify for food stamps ! Cheers !
