The Chouest Family announced today that they were not going to make the annual company match to ALL their employees 401K plan, Cut travel pay out, & Eliminated the safety points program. As stated in a very poorly & unprofessional letter sent out via e-mail today."We regret to inform you amid one of the most difficult economic downturns in the oil and gas industry that our company has ever faced, we will not make the company match for the 2014 plan year. Be certain that this decision came after careful thought and consideration. Chouest family"
I must be missing something, 2014 was a great year for all vessel operators in the GOM, including the Chouest Family. The construction on C-Port 3 continues, They purchased a luxury yacht construction company in the north west, Numerous new builds were delivered, The recent purchase of Bollinger Shipyards, A new corporate Jet, Dionne Chouest building a multi million dollar home in Galliano.

Agreed. Iâm not your typical âBig Orangeâ Captain, Iâve worked damn near every kind of ship out there but Ro/Ro and Container, but Iâve never been happier since I came to work here almost 10 years ago. I know that Iâll always have a steady wage, from an employer that will do everything in his power to take care of his employees. ECO takes care of their people, and when this slump is over weâll see the benefits of sticking around, just like we have in every other down turn. I may not be as vocal as a couple guys in the training center, but for once I have to say: Come on down here and tell us that weâre âserfsâ to our faces and see what happens.
