Chief Engineers - CROWLEY - FL

Crowley is seaking Chief Engineers for our GOM Solutions Contract Towing Fleet. **NEW HIRE BONUS MAY APPLY

You know, I contacted Crowley when they had an ad up looking for chiefs for the east and west coast, GOM, AND Valdez operations. I have never worked for Crowley, but I was told I didn’t qualify for the new hire bonus in any location in a chiefs position. When asked what the qualification were for a new hire bonus, I got a lot of mumbling and no real answer. So on top of low pay, there is an impossible new hire bonus? Is anyone in the office at Crowley starting to wonder why THEY NEVER HAVE ENOUGH ENGINEERS?

I saw one of the higher ups at Crowley Give an interview about the future of the maritime industry and he was complaining that there wasn’t enough interest in the industry anymore. Nobody wanted to work at sea, so they were having a hard time filling spots. Its more like nobody wants to work for Crowley because theyre cheap.

Is that the new meme from the industry honchos, “nobody wants to work at sea?” Oh ha haha…stop it, my stomach hurts from laughing.

No, industry fat cats, we just want a decent wage, decent living and working conditions, etc so we aren’t living like those poor Chinese guys who ended up knifing each other. Too much to ask I guess.

Yeah and we don’t want a bullshit cumbersome hiring process. Look at my resume, talk to a reference or two, give me a phone interview, and lets discuss details, that I may or may not record so when you want to be a cheap fuck and not may me what we agreed, there, I have it. Better yet, put it in an email. Also, don’t break my balls in a physical. If the USCG issued me a medical certificate, I’m good to go. Do as I said, and there you go, hiring issues begone.

Crowley used to be THE company for the best wages and benefits in the towing business. The contract negotiations I was involved with were generally trying to catch up to Crowley’s levels.
If you work in one of the SIU contracted divisions, you have to maintain your clinic card with an annual physical.

Crowley has turned themselves into a bottom tier, bottom feeder company. Too many inept boat managers, too much unnecessary paperwork and BS, too much treating mariners like retarded “boat trash,” and by far the lowest pay of any wire towing tug company with more than 5 boats.

Im actually really happy to see the negative feedback here. Not for the sake of trashing a company just to trash it, but to at least put in writing for all to see, the shortcomings of a company that ( publicly ) blames society for their lack of crew members. Licensed engineers are generally in fairly high demand throughout the industry, but Crowley has made no effort to make themselves attractive to licensed engineers looking for work

ARE YOU LISTENING, CROWLEY?
