Chances of finding work while living outside of US?

I live in Mexico (in the south, not so close to the US) and want to continue doing so. I just recently got my AB Special. In your experience, how willing/unwilling are companies going to be to hire me because I’m not in the country? I’ve heard of people living in other countries while working for US maritime companies, but my understanding is that they were already established long-term with these companies before moving outside of the states. Am I going to have to be physically in the US to find work?

The last job I worked was when I lived in the US and the cost of flying me to New Orleans for testing was more or less the same cost of a flight from where I am now, so that shouldn’t be a factor. What else would be the problem?

They don’t care where you live as long as you show up for crew change on time and sober!
