Canadian election 2025

Also, anyone reading a thread called ‘Scuttlebutt/Canadian Election 2025’ has no reasonable expectation of believing it to be anything other than old farts whacking each other with hammers just to see if we are still alive. :face_with_crossed_out_eyes:

Yes. Very Bad. Canada had a chance to save itself but it’s now gone. UK went communist a while ago. Australia votes this weekend and will likely go further down the communist plughole for a second term. Here’s a book on it.

P.S. Cattle don’t seek enlightenment. They seek food, water, safety in the herd, regular milking, reproduction and a nice lie down in the sun chewing the cud. The cattle trails lead to those destinations. I’ve never seen a cattle trail leading to a slaughterhouse, have you?

I think she’s stunningly elegant.

FLOTUS likely has a fantastic, for her, prenup. Heard it was renegotiated after the Stormy Daniels episode.

The complainers seem to moan about retired people discussing things in Scuttlebutt. Perhaps they need to learn what Scuttlebutt pertains to and also they are free to create specific topics that are maritime related under any of the many other headings. But I see few new topics being created. The moderators are pretty good at keeping maritime related topics in line. So don’t complain…create.

Net up he will be using the old “Barron is autistic” and “Barron is future school shooter” we heard back in 2017.

My issue with Canada is their unrestrained MAID program, killing 15,000+ citizens a year. In one instance, a disabled veteran requested aid getting a handicapped-enabled vehicle and the “government” offered to help them kill themselves.

  1. so you think tariffs —which are a tax on Americans— is going to influence an election in a foreign country over a medical issue?
  1. That’s a completely inflammatory statement. MAID allows people with incurable diseases such as cancer to choose to end their lives with dignity and without prolonged pain. The person chooses. It’s not forced on them. It’s not unrestrained. There are all sorts of restrictions involved. People are turned down from the program.

This is a sensitive issue for me now. My wife and I are editing our living wills now to formally express our desire for MAID. We’re lucky we live in WA where it is legal for some circumstances, but it’s not easy.

But for certain diseases we still have to plan for us to go to Switzerland to have it done, which has all sorts of complexity. I would rather just go to Canada, but the Canadian program is only a little less restricted than my state’s.

I understand many people are against MAID. But anyone who intimates that it is unrestricted in Canada hasn’t spent 10 minutes Googling the subject.

Since you said “he” I assume you are not talking about FLOTUS.
From what I have seen and read Barron appears to be the smartest of his offspring.
PS> He most likely got his smarts from his mother.

Yeah, I was talking about the F***ing Loser, not the First Lady. Honestly forgot she existed since we’ve heard so little from her and Ivanka this term.

That is the single thing about this misadministration we can be grateful for.

I get updates from organizations that research the stats on MAID. In many cases, people suffer from depression or other mental “illnesses” that can be addressed through counseling and pharmaceuticals. Again I site the case of a disabled vet who needed help and was offered suicide. As for “assisted suicide”, if a person commits suicide by themselves, that is on them but if you do a “hands-on” thing to “help”, then you are guilty of at least manslaughter. I am just a pro-life person and will not change. When you are pushing close to 20,000 "assisted deaths a year, that hardly seems “restricted”. Nuff said for my part.

FLOTUS has been described as a “private person”. Unlike past first ladies, she doesn’t seem to have political aspirations. I actually read one time that someone criticized her for not “speaking English” very well. Overlooking the fact she speaks, I believe four languages.

No hard feelings. I have a large Catholic family, no two of which agree on anything, including this, and we still get along.

She obviously speaks English with a Slovenian acescent, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t fluent, or don’t have a wide vocabulary in English.
“Everybody” has some sort of accent when speaking English, incl. native speakers. “American English” has many accents, as does “British English”, or any other of the many "native English speakers around the world.

How many words are needed to claim “fluency” can be debated:
How many words do you need to know to be fluent in English?.

PS> Here is an article that take up the question of how many languages Melania Trump actually speak:

When you have between 25,000 and 40,000 people in the US alone who are in a “persistent vegetative state” for years while consuming obscenely expensive “health care” and creating who knows what kind of emotional as well as financial damage to family members, is it any wonder why intelligent people in their thousands choose not to participate in that bizarre pseudo christian theater?

The meeting went well for Mr. Carney.
Even Fox News say so (almost), so it must be true:

After the meeting Canada has followed much of the rest of the world:

If only Trump would destroy fossil fuels and allow and recruit say 30 million additional illegal invaders into the US, his social scorecard would rise significantly. Problem solved and the Democrats and Chinese communists would start to love him.

One of my issues is if the “government” has to do “hands on assisted suicide” then there is a problem. What would be the difference between that and “manslaughter”? Or the case of a disabled vet who requested government assistance with transportation needs being told “No, but we will help you kill yourself”. I remember years ago when Dr. Kevorkian was helping so many people die and it was then discovered half his victims were not physically ill. They were mentally ill. And mental illness can be treated at times. I agree sometimes there are people who in a constant vegetative state should be “allowed to die” as harsh as that sounds. i listened to a talk show where the topic was “extreme measures” were used to keep people alive. In one case, a 91 year old woman had terminal cancer and her kidneys were failing but her family managed to get her on dialysis. That just extended her suffering. We had a family member who had gone through two kidney transplants and had been on dialysis for years. She finally said she was blessed to see her grandbaby born and said turn off the machine, I have had enough, I am ready to go to Heaven.
