Thank you all for the info on Bouchard, however I did get the job with Hornbeck. Orientation starts in a week and I can’t wait! I still don’t know if I’ll be on a boat the day after orientation or what’s going to happen. Any tips for that scenario? I’m somewhat clueless still lol
Have your bags packed and be ready to go right after orientation.
I was sitting at Newark waiting to fly home from orientation and a boat called me. It also was that if you lived in the south you no longer had to go to New York for it
I worked for Bouchard the tugs are nice however i lived on the barge on the B255 and all I can say is that all that you hear about Bouchard is 100% true…it’s to bad because if morty the owner was not there running it,it would be a great company.i would go back if I really really needed a job.i think I would work at a fast food place before going back there
I could only take 4 mths and in that 4 mths we almost got fired 3 times there a few times I had to wait to unpack because we were thinking we were getting fired it was bullshit so I quit…
Why does everyone get fired so much?? I don’t understand why a company would fire so many people so often.
Because its Bouchard, the name says it all. My uncle lasted 26 years, which must have been close to a record. But in Bouchards defense, they have to crew the boats and when you dont have months to review what your hiring, of course your going to get a few bad apples. Have you ever seen what Bouchard will hire when they truly get hard up…? Oh god.

If they treated their people better they wouldnt need to hire those bad apples. They would get good people in the first place.
The guy you want to talk to is John Cirenza, crewing manager,(jcirenza@bouchardtransport.com),he is a good guy and fair 631-390-4900,I worked there and he always treated me great. They have nice tugs and there’s always room to work extra at times. They have northern fleet which works up in New York,Boston, philly, conn ,those areas, or in the south,Gulfof Mexico area. I preferred the North runs. You will have to gain more sea time and get abigger license to advance,TOAR all thatto get at least a Mate of Towing. He will want an application first so fill it out ,email it to him,and keep calling and emailing if you want a job,Agreasy wheel gets the grease,he has a lot of people calling for AB jobs so keep on him and you will get on.(and if you do get hired ,try and stay off the ELLEN up in New York,The Captain and his sidekick fat ass engineer are PRICKS
What kind of hitches to they work and an idea of the starting deck pay?
Do they hire people from Florida?
They hire anyone they can
If you want to make a fair amount of money, horrible insurance and pay your own way to work its the place to be. Theres plenty of guys on here who are there currently who can give you the honest truth. We have a saying here…“when no one else will take you, there’s always Bouchard”.
Oh well that doesn’t sound to good. I was just wondering because hiring is basically at a standstill in Louisiana, so I was just shopping around really thanks.
Amen. Couldn’t of said it any better!
There was 30+ new hires at the ECO orientation this week. That does not sound like a stand still to me!
They weren’t really new hires they had been waiting in the wings because of chouests over hiring. With the expectations of the new builds in which 3 were delayed until January. They were just apart of the most recent new hiring orientation, but they were hired about two months ago.
An since you work there how many were Os?
Sounds like you got ECO all figured out. Jj do you have all the certifications, twic and stcw? The 2 green brand new no experience at all O.S’s that got hired 2 weeks ago and put on my boat had stcw and all required paperwork.
Yea I just got my stcw about two weeks ago an I have a twic, passport, and mmc. I have two friends that work there. I just think I got my stcw in the mail a week or two to late an missed the hiring window. Are you a captain?
I meant a captain in the Gom or overseas?
