Best Submarine Rescue, Amazing Photo

I found this photo of a sailor getting rescued by a submarine online but it didn’t have a captain. Must have been an amazing rescue, does anyone know the background story?

Doesn’t look like a rescue, just the submarine’s diver, perhaps ensuring that the after hatch is properly sealed. Certainly not an everyday occurrence, but not a rescue.

looks like a dare after too much port leave

Interesting photo. I doubt he is involved in a rescue. I also doubt he is a USN diver ( looks a bit stocky). Subs as a rule don’t carry divers unless there is an operation that requires them. At least in years past this was the case - some went with the boat TAD now and again. That could have well changed these days. Something sure has his attention on the hull. He is tethered, and seems to be looking at the area of water disturbance to starboard. I would doubt it’s a hatch being off centerline. Some equipment that has not retracted and secured right perhaps? Hard to see, almost looks like a cleat of some sort. Subs have smooth hulls to aid in silent running. The more turbulence the worse for them, so I would think something out of the norm and is why they are involved in this rather out of the norm looking event. I’d like to know what in the hell he is up to.

well if you look to the far left you see the photo is from blogdex.ru so I went there and trust me that those Russian poltroons are some very sick emmeffers! They seriously have some major self punishment and mutilation issues! Even I will not repost the photos I found there here which is saying something! I didn’t find that sub pic there yet and don’t know if I am going to search for it but being that it is a Russkie sub, it is probably a sailor sent out onto the deck to retrieve the captain’s Vodka bottle after he dropped in from the sail?

An here I am criticizing cajuns on here! They are all the epitome of enlightened knowledge and humanity compared to that sorry assed lot from the frozen wastes of decrepitude!

Submarines do have SCUBA divers on board as part of the regular crew for at least the last 40+ years. This guy in this picture is either attaching or removing the main vent covers while in port some place like Diego Garcia where seas can kick-up at the pier.

Never see seas like that in DG

Looks like they are u/w. something probably loose and making noise when submerged like a fold down mooring cleat. Noisy subs = useless in tactical environment.
