Assistant Engineer without QMED

Hello Mr. Sailors. I have a question I am currently interviewing with different companies as Oiler\Waiper and Assistant Engineer without QMED . Work on fishing boats around Alaska . My goal is to earn 180 days internship and change when I get my QMED certificate. Has anyone been able to follow this path and achieve this goal . Thank you. Fair winds.

Дмитрий, трудно понять что именно вы спрашиваете. Change с чего на что?

Yes I may have asked the question incorrectly. Thanks for the correction, for example, after 180 days of experience on fishing vessels, I have a qualification that allows me to get a QMED certificate.

I was wondering if there is anyone in the chat who has been able to work on fishing boats after working without papers and certificates and then get a QMED certificate.

If you have legal right to work in US than yes, you can seat for QMED test assuming you are able to provide Sea service letter. If not than USCG will not let you do that.

Yes, I have a work permit until the 29th year I am now in the status under the protection of the government if not for this situation I could certainly find a job myself . as there are a lot of vacancies in ship operation repair . but for the U.S. need to start all over again I probably will not be able to spend a lot of time I decided for myself to go the initial way to get certification QMED and then try to grow further.

Than you should not have any problem with USCG. Check national maritime center for all requirements . You will need your MMC, Twic card, First aid basic FF and VPDSD if I remember correctly. Just check that site.

Yes Thanks for the reminder and the hint that to move in any direction you have to calculate the final path. (STCW VESSEL PERSONNEL WITH DESIGNATED SECURITY DUTIES)
