PS> At 12 kts. it will take a while before the first pontoon gets in the water.
I don’t think anybody say that Israel doesn’t have the right to “defend themselves against terrorists”.
But how does killing babies by starvation qualify as “defence against terrorists”?
So far 12000 children have died in Gaza since Oct. 7 and many more have been maimed for lift. (Physically and mentally)
If the rational is that “children grow up to be terrorists” than Israel is succeeding in creating millions, not only in Gaza but in he rest of the Muslim world.
If Israel should succeed in “radicating Hamas” in Gaza, what are the changes that it will arise in other location with greater following?
Or that they will find their hostages alive?
Regarding your “It would be idiotic on their [Hamas] part”. . . Consider the US response when Hezbollah, dba Islamic Jihad, killed 241 Marines in Lebanon. We made a “tactical retreat to the rear”.

The port is protected by beakwaters and have some wharf space able to handle smaller shallow draft ships. The protected beach is suitable for LCTs/LCUs:
Cyprus is only 220 n.m. away, so no need to bring large ships to a temporary port in Gaza
The beaches along the Gaza Strip is also suitable for LCTs /LCUs to land dirctly on the beaches:
Yes, Hamas ( mostly Gazans) is blocking the aid by holding and raping Israeli hostages.
If Hamas would release the hostages, and surrender, the war would end and aid would flow.
We cannot fault Israel for restricting aid until the Israeli hostages are released.
Let’s not lose sight of the fact that Hamas started this particular conflict by attacking, killing, raping, and abducting hundreds of Israeli citizens.
Hamas’ allies in Lebanon have also driven 100,000 Israelis from their homes in Northern Israel with daily barrages of rockets.
Israel is fighting for its very survival. They have the right to kill as many as it takes to recover their hostages, defeat Hamas, win the war, and protect their citizens.
This is a classic case of “whatever the US does is wrong”.
Consider the current situation:
“Hey, big US superpower, civilians are starving. Don’t you care? Why don’t you help?”
Are there other nations closer? Yes. Why don’t they help? Unknown. Soooo, we decide to do something AND…Why did it take so long?
Perhaps we DON’T help (while other nations closer are doing…what exactly?) so then we are selfish and uncaring.
But now we will help and suggestions are made to run landing craft ashore. What happens if they are fired upon, or a US service member is killed/injured? “Oh, you big bullies, spraying weapons fire/airstrikes on the beachhead in defense of your troops and you killed civilians!!!”
No. It is the classic; We are a super power so we do things the “super way”, no matter the cost in $$, or inocent lives. Food is need NOW, not only in 60-90 days.
In stead of divide blame, why not get together to do something “super” RIGHT NOW?
The best would be to put pressure on Israel to stop bombing civilans and use starvation as a weapon.
Voluteers from nations both close and far ARE doing something RIGHT NOW.
The first shipment of aid by sea is leaving Larnaca now with food aid collected for several sources.
On arrival the aid will be distributed by multi-national aid workers, organized by a volunteeer organization started and lead by a Spanish-American migrant living in Washington DC:
