AB limited to mate

I’m currently an AB on harbor tug under 200 ton. I’m trying to get to the wheel house ASAP. I have almost 180 days as an AB. What’s my next move? The company I work for is great about paying for schools but everyone I ask has a different opinion on what I should be doing next. Thanks for any guidance you may be able to give me

If you want to stay in the harbour then get a Mate 500 ton Inland and a TOAR. I’m pretty sure that’s your fastest route.

Thanks!!! What courses will I need to sit for the mates test? I was told radar and basic + advanced firefighting. Does that sound correct?

Other than radar I forget exactly what is needed for an Inland only license. I only see class requirements listed under the STCW license section so I’m just going to hope Mr. Cavo chimes in with the answer.

I would say the next move is downloading the checklist from the NMC web site.
