6pak straight to 200 ton

Can you go straight from 6pak to 200t or do you have to hold a 100t first. I have more than enough days for a 200t. I’m upgrading in a month and would like to know. Thanks!

I believe, if you have the time required on vessels of appropriate tonnage, that you can sit for a 200 Ton Mate license, but have to work with it for a year before upgrading to Master. That’s assuming you meet the other requirements. I hope someone will correct me if I’m wrong. A surefire way to find out is to email the NMC at iasknmc@uscg.gov or check out their website at uscg.mil

I’m sorry, it’s iasknmc@uscg.mil, not .gov. Good luck

Usually one gets a 100 ton Master/200 ton Mate all in one fell swoop.

Looks like you can. When in doubt, look at the checklist on the NMC site:
