Anyone tried your purty lil’ orange/red book @ the airport?
Thought I would give it a go in San Juan sunday where I was sent to the pre check and went right on through, no shoes or belt off, thinking well, must have gotten a TSA worker having a good day, try again in Atlanta on the final leg home, same good treatment. Did notice they had some curiosity as they gave it the twice over.
Kinda curious as I tried the TWIC a few years ago in Houston with no success ultimately having to get the passport out.
ive never tried using my MMC or TWIC for boarding an airplane, but ive noticed before I got my credential`s every time I flew i was pulled aside for a random search, now I never get the extra search.
I always use my TWIC and nothing else. A few times I was asked who issued it and I just told them to flip it over. Still got the full treatment though.
Got the VIP treatment on the way to work and on the way home. Couldn’t believe it! About 7 years ago when I got my first TWERRP card, I held up the line at O’Hare when the flunky wouldn’t take it as ID. I refused to show anything else and told him to get a supervisor. Supervisor took one look and let me through.
Just goes to show that a document issued by the Department of Homeland Security trumps a document issued by the TSA.
TSA and the Coast Guard are both part of the Department of Homeland Security…
Ive used it here and there (TWIC) .alot of times i get the same responding answer," We cant take this", I ask why ," Because its not a good form of ID" , I say really , The ppl who gave it to me said it is…, They say " who’s that?". Same ppl you work for and signs your pay check. Then I turn it over. See TSA. I love doing that. Most all airports take my MMD booklet it seems
Man I never thought of that. I get kinda mad tho when I tack up a 100 dollar tab in NOLA but considering its 9 bucks a drink I don’t feel as bad now. I’m gonna try it.
I used my TWIC beginning in 2009 I think, and got a lot of puzzled looks and the occasional “I’ll have to check with my supervisor” which lasted pretty much until two years ago.
I use my NOAA Common Access Card (CaC) now and THAT gets funny looks even though it is a standard issue US Government civilian employee common access card just with the blue NOAA symbol on it that everybody should effing recognize from the Weather Channel and everywhere else it pops up which tells me half this country is just unconscious and walking around in a coma. I should become a pickpocket with all these brain-dead clueless people around, I’d be rich and never have to work again.
I will try my credential book now, since this looks like a “ferriner” passport- this should be hilarious and I will report back when I get something noteworthy. Maybe a full cavity search or somthin’ like that. On a middle aged fat chick this should be classic.

Don’t tell the TSA and the Coast Guard. The shock might be fatal.

True, but the MMC says “Homeland Security” right on it in proud print. If the MMC only said issued by USCG, the TSA agents probably won’t accept it. You have to hunt for TSA in fineprint on the back of the Twic. The TSA agent asked me “what’s this an insurance card”?

True Dat’ and the TWIC looks very similar to the TSA agent’s card hanging on his uni & I have still had to pull the passport when trying the TWIC. I’m going MMC until turned down from here on out.

In San Juan the other day I asked if it was cheaper to get a double, nurse says; “yes, only $18.00 for a double instead of $15.oo for a single”. Cowabunga!

Hilarious imbeciles, just what I was looking for!
Oh, they are out there. Someone else mentioned San Juan- hey, I was there as a service engineer in 2009 to visit the cruise ships and I used that stupid TWIC and they just looked at it and looked at it like, what the ever loving fark?? I said, flip it over, you guys issued it! Oh ok! Well, we need to look at this a little closer don’t we? Or some shite like that. For 132 bucks you bettah!
I was getting my physical today and there was a truck driver there as well, and we traded uses of the TWIC. Top one was windshield snow scraper. Yes, I actually did this. I should have made a video or pic of it just because. Ah, regrets.
