If a person wasn’t bothered or liked Obama’s 2015 Iran Deal they should feel the same about this copycat deal that hopefully ends the US-Iran War. If a person hated Obama’s 2015 Iran Deal they should be more optimistic or like this nearly similar deal orchestrated by the Trump Administration. WTF you ask? I know, but it’s true! Both Obama & Trump used the Carrot & Stick Diplomacy theory with Iran. But unfortunately Obam gave Iran the carrot & threw the stick in the lake. Iran’s proxy terrorists organizations Hezbollah, Hamas & the Houthis ran wild with the additional funding & Iran’s centrifuges ramped up production. Dumb. But that warmonger Trump took the stick & killed the old Ayatollah with it. He also used it to permanently cripple the new Ayatollah. He blew up all their centrifuges in '25 along with all the lead scientists & generals who operated them. Then he came back in '26 with the same stick to blow up all the same sh*t plus the roads leading to the piles of rubble that used to be the centrifuges. He killed many of their new generals & new scientists, blew up their air defense systems, most of their fighter jets & all of their large navy assets. For demoralization reasons probably, Trump used the stick to blow up their newest & largest bridge & a bunch of other stuff so everyone in Iran knew they were being beaten by a US stick. He blew up the old presidents house who’s been out of power for 12 years who was under house arrest. Everyone of any importance in Iran had their homes blown up? That was a very busy stick. Then he offered the same terms that Obama offered? Yea, they accepted. But now Iran won’t continue to enrich uranium like they did under Obama because so many people are dead & they have miles of rubble instead of centrifuges. Any American who opposed the US-Iranian war on principle should like this Obama-rehashed, carrot & stick Iran Deal under Trump.
I like the Obama plan under Trump because Iran doesn’t have anything to create a nuclear bomb & now know the current US administration isn’t afraid to take the carrot back & use the stick again
That’s fair. But like you said, it’s a copycat deal, so why did we have to get rid of the previous one that did the same thing. I will say that I do kind of have a problem with the new “deal” though, or rather 300 billion problems. That is one hell of a carrot, and the stick seem to be nothing more than a twig.
First I would like to say again, I believe Trumps attack on Iran was illegal & against international law. As a Libertarian & a person who thinks we shouldn’t be the police of the world, we had no business doing it just like I don’t like our involvement in the UN, NATO or Ukraine.
But to answer the question above. The deal under Obama caused Hamas, the Houthi terrorists & Hezbollah to flourish. The Obama Administration created the deal, gave the carrot & lifted sanctions. Iran kept thier centrifuges, continued to enrich & stockpile uranium. It was a giant windfall for Iran because they didn’t change anything except have more money to fund their Anti-American proxies. It was dumb, dumb & dumb. I don’t know what you’re talking about with the “twig” reference. Trump used the stick to kill nearly everyone in power who signed the first deal with Obama. The one’s he didn’t kill, he destroyed their homes & compounds trying. The centrifuges are gone. The scientists who operated them are dead. Supposedly the stockpiles of Uranium are unreachable. Their air defense & large navy assets are gone. It’s should be easy for Iran to stick to their part of the deal this time because so much of their leadership & nuclear infrastructure has been destroyed. Now is the time for the US to sue for peace with the Obama plan. Before it was meaningless because Iran kept enriching Uranium & supporting their proxies after signing.
The thing that gets omitted about Obama ‘giving money to Iran’ omits certain facts.
About the $300 billion. I won’t be surprised if $150 billion of it is in the form of crops from US farms & from US based Musk linked military contractors rebuilding sh*t that we blew up. Thats how the Military Industrial Complex racket works.
That stick also killed a fair number of innocent Iranians and caused ripple effects across the global economy that reverberate to this day.
So yeah, actually using the stick might kill the people you don’t like, but it also does other things that not using the stick avoids.
There’s also the financial cost of the stick (executing a war ain’t cheap, even a short one) and the additional negative impacts to U.S. reputation for acting unilaterally (other than Israel, who also isn’t beloved) to once again kill Muslims in the Middle East. So we can unfortunately expect a whole new crop of future terrorist martyrs who will be raised with tangible evidence of why the U.S. really is the evil empire.
Yep, and we’re not even sure this rehashed deal will work? The strait can be closed tomorrow & we could be dropping ten millions bombs again tomorrow. But if it works, at least it will be over until the next time. People who bragged about this same deal under Obama should be content publicly & even happier quitely to themselves because the centrifuges are gone which is better than before.
It is pretty much accepted the the era of US hegemony is dead by the international community. This was just the straw that broke the camels back. Putin is learning the same thing in Ukraine of Russian hegemony. Meanwhile China is becoming the largest economy in the world and doing a good job of it while they just sit back and and let others destroy themselves knowing China has been around for thousands of years and survived. They finally figured out what works they think. So they play the long game without firing a shot…so far and likely won’t have to.

Anyone eho calls Trump a warmonger is foolish, thats been one of his strengths: using other means and avoiding resorting to armed conflict except when absolutely necessary. Call it fair and down the middle. As we can see in Iran, this highlights a couple of his weaknesses- bad at deal making, and bad at war when it does actually come to that (especially now with a guy like Hegseth, he would have fared a lot better if he still had a good secdef like Mattis). I think he could have handled Iran a lot better back in admin 45, before he filled his cabinet with sycophants.

No, I dont know what kind of civics they teach the poor souls of your country, but having advisors who are willing to disagree and challenge your ideas is a mark of a great leader, its a signature of all our great presidents and its one of the main reasons why Trumps first term was much better than his second. It’s a stone cold fact that the man is EIGHTY years old and the oldest elected president in American history. If he makes it to the end of his term without dying of old age he will be the oldest president period, but at his age that is far from guaranteed. Your sources must be blind, because I can see for myself that he falls asleep and gets lost and confused on camera. He’s way more sharp than Biden, but talk about damning with faint praise. The man is a dusty old fossil and certainly the second most senile president in US history. Nobody who is being honest with themselves can compare the energy and alertness of 2017-2021 Trump against today and NOT find him presently lacking. He is one foot in the grave and the other is coming down fast.

Whew! That’s a relief. I don’t always support him … but I later learn I was wrong.
I have a source who has shared the stage with him multiple times and says the same things, but he’s running for office and knows where his bread is buttered so I take it with a big grain of salt of course. But that’s hardly relevant. It would take quite a bit more than that to deny my lyin’ eyes. No eighty year old has any business holding an office in the House, the Senate, and certainly not the oval office. If he makes it to the end of his term he will be eighty two, that should be outrageous just like it was with Pelosi and Feinstein and all the other old farts.
No, I will not bet on him dying in office because despite all that I do hope he lives out his term and it would be highly unethical to profit from that in even a hypothetical way.
