While the new truth in advertising approach should appeal to the gun-ho crowd it might be more scary & off putting to many high schoolers that the US military recruits from? I know I’m going to use this name switch to further explain to my sons the military industrial complex & US war machine is mostly used for expanding our empire & capitalistic purposes. Very seldom used for defense only.
IMO, a populist politician finding a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist to keep his name in the headlines & to rattle his opponents. All populist leaders, Democrats & Republicans do it.

Everyone has different headlines. I know he isn’t in mine as much. I can go weeks now without reading about him. I suspect it is the same for others as well. TDS has become a chronic condition for many & they’re learning to cope. He’ll need to up his game to keep his narcissism feed to the same levels as before.

Yes, Trump Devotion Syndrome is strong here this morning. The cult is groomed so well they start protecting the leader even before anyone calls him out.
Of course, if the previous president had changed the name to DoW that would be proof of a worldwide conspiracy of Illuminati using digital currency to enslave the U.S. into endless proxy wars and bombings in the Middle East.It would be proof simultaneously of dastardly plans and dementia if the other guy did something so unnecessary and gratuitous.
But when the cult leader invokes War, even though the name change to Defense was made by the Greatest Generation, a generation that truly knew what war was like, well that just shows the god- like wisdom of their leader.
We’re talking next level cultism. Right now Tom Cruise is barking at his fellow Scientologists, “You call yourself cultists? The guy changed it from Defense to War and his groupies didn’t even blink! Get in the game!”
The cult members are so well-groomed now they reflexively twist themselves into pretzels to explain how the crazy thing the leader did was utterly genius and how anyone who says otherwise must be crazy themselves.
The fact that the cult can change their mind overnight about any deeply-felt matter in accordance with the leader’s whims reminds me of a book about cults and cult-leaders.
Peace means War, and always has, until the cult leader says otherwise.

While I appreciate your participation & know you have every right to express your opinions I don’t want to hear any rubbish from Democrats/Liberals on politicians mental capacities. Democrats/Liberals have absolutely zero credibility on the subject. It’s the equivalent of getting jogging advice from morbidly obese shut-in’s or parenting tips from pedophiles. For 5 years you people attacked any moderate, independent or Republican who called out Joe Bidens blatantly obvious mental decline and you were going to vote him in for another 4 years? After Biden leaves office several in his inner circle admits it was a scam, Biden was out of his head & the peon rank & file Democrats/Liberals who were so easily fooled before now claim they have the ability to detect mental decline?? Good try 'lil buddy but I don’t think so. Unfortunately for Democrats/Liberals I’m afraid Trump can return to The Joe Rogan Show for another uninterrupted 3 hr interview any day of the week & do fine.

Changing the name from Defense to War seems incongruous for a guy who has claimed that he doesn’t start wars. Which, that statement itself is incongruous for a guy who has bombed Iran, bombed Yemen, sent a Seal team into North Korea and killed civilians, has talked of sending the military into Mexico, and is now building up military forces near Venezuela and just blew up a Venezuelan vessel in international waters. It would be easier to claim defensive actions by a department so named, but hard to claim anything other than warmongering from the department of war.
Not to mention the waste involved in physically changing the name which is most assuredly enshrined in literally tens of thousands of physical signs, forms, templates, contracts, and the general vernacular of the last 70 years. Twitter is still “X formerly known as Twitter”, and DOD will likely remain as ubiquitous as GOM. Surely there are more pressing matters.

About the US Government & our military industrial complex being warmongers, that’s not exclusive to Trump. Started way before him. Trump is the only one who wants to be honest about it concerning the name? I didn’t expect that but he’s as unpredictable as they come. Maybe Trump wants the Democrats/Liberals to take the position our Government/MIL aren’t warmongers?

Trump cannot change the name of the Department of Defense, legally. He can give it a secondary name dept. of war which will be largely ignored. He CAN release the Epstein files as he promised his followers.

I don’t believe anyone is taking the position that the US hasn’t been a warring nation for nearly its entire history. There’s seldom been a time in my life that we haven’t been involved in a war either publicly or clandestinely.
There isn’t a country on earth that doesn’t know what the US DoD does. Which makes changing the name a waste of time, money, and resources, and will likely and rightfully be mocked as wasteful. I get that apparently only republicans are allowed to call out waste now, but it’s still waste.

It’s amazing how you are saying ALL Democrats/Liberals, and seem to have concrete proof of it, were all of the exact same thought on Biden’s mental health. I can’t even get 5 people to agree on a place to eat dinner but yet ten’s of millions of people thought Biden was cognitively with it?? That’s dumb. Maybe they were thinking what almost everyone did this last election and hated one person so much they voted for the other one regardless of any real reasons.
I watched Trump’s Joe Rogan interview and he did what he always does and just rattles on with his 6th grader word salad, his buzz words, and no regard for actually answering specific questions in a coherent manner. I wouldn’t call it a grand performance of mental aptitude.
Also, he can still release the Epstein files as he said he would and not after the FBI sanitizes them all. I don’t care who is in them or from what side. They all can go down in flames.
