Searching thru the checklists on the NMC website the other night as im preparing to sit for my chief limited shortly and i see that its “possible” to sit for a 1st, not a 2nds, having a chief limited and more seatime. Is there a tonnage requirement ? Im sitting idle pulling my dick on a smaller boat adding time for the upgrade, hopeing to maybe chase that buckoo drillship money at somepoint. Has anyone been down this road or am i missing something ?
From what I know is at the chief limited level, you get 1 year time at that license and you can sit for the 1st unlimited. I noticed once I did my upgrade as well. But I’m with you. If anybody knows this to be true or some other tonnage requirement in sea time is needed it would be nice to know.

Print it out, soak it in lemon juice and run a heat gun over it.
