Understanding China

The article isn’t written by anyone from the network. It’s written by someone who personally experienced the terrible things that happened in China and sees similarities to where we are/are heading.

Check your bias and whatabout-isim at the door.

Yesterday i heard a broadcaster on th ABC (our public broadcaster in Australia) describe the current attempts to force certain social changes as “The cultural revolution”.

I wondered if this was just a poorly chosen turn of phrase due to ignorance of history,
or it was a deliberate linking of the two events ?

:joy: Really? Bias? Whatabout-ism? Here’s a sentence from the first paragraph of that impeccably impartial article:

The outbreak of a pandemic brought ashore to us from the Chinese Communist Pary and the death of George Floyd created the perfect storm…

No bias there!! Oh, and this beauty of non-histrionic factual reportage…

Instead of looking for racists, we were ordered to look for “counterrevolutionaries.” …

That’s right. I got my orders in the mail from the government like all Americans: “Look for counterrevolutionaries!” In fact my orders came with a punch card. Find 10 counterrevolutionaries and get a free Subway foot-long! (But don’t get the tuna because it carries the woke virus).

Hey, like I said. I’m not trying to change your mind. Get your opinions from wherever you like.

But don’t expect the rest of us to buy those opinions from a network whose opinion people were caught lying, and who admitted under oath they believed the complete opposite of what they said on camera and in print. There is an equal chance that the author here believes nothing of what she wrote but is just interested in selling books. That’s Fox’s track record, proven in open court.

But hey, we all gotta admit Harris Faulkner has a great…um…presence. am I right??

I made no analysis of the article’s bias or whaabout-ism…I referred to YOUR bias (article is “poppycock and propaganda” due to the site publishing it) and whatabout-isim (what about their coverage of the election?).

But yet that’s EXACTLY what you do by poo-pooing the article based on the site willing to publish it. How’s about we let people read the article, compare it to their own observations about what they see going on around them, and let them form their own opinion about whether the comparison made in the article is applicable or not?

The rest of your post is just deflecting and drawing false equivalencies which is obvious and requires no further analysis.

You say this based on what? Do you know this woman? Know anything about her? Her history? Oh, I forgot your purity test: FN published her opinion, therefore it’s a lie/poppy cock/propaganda/etc… Thanks for the analysis and feedback comrade.

The Economist is inviting subscribers to a live event, “Understanding China: military and political challenges”, on Thursday November 30th at 4pm GMT / 11am EST / 8am PST.

If China wants to roll back history to pre commie days to align Taiwan then they need to roll back the commie party to before it existed.

Not likely that China want o go backwards, but they have an “identity problem”:

New china( the commie party) is not yet 100 years old
I cant help thinking where the Chinese thought they were going is not where the Mao V2 is taking them.
Clinton brought them into the WTO so they joined the world but it didnt take long before their ( commies) plan was damn all you infidels what we ( the party, hence they have their own constitution which reads like something hitler wrote) want is what matters.

They ( the party) turned themselves into the enemy and cant play well with others.
They had their chance like Russia but went the other road.
The populations suffer as they are not important. Ideology is. Dictators are better for you than democracy, lol when?

The Chinese Communist Part turn 100 in 2021:

Have you read the Chinese Constitution? If not, here is your change to do so:

Below: Train in China 30 years later.

PS> Same train driver in both pictures.

It was the ccp manifesto/constitution that my Hitler comment came from.

You mean the 1921 Manifesto?:

FYI: Hitler was a Fascist. That is diametrically opposite of Communism.
Hitler was also a racist, nationalist and narcissist. (Familiar?)

PS> But then you probably new that, if you have read “Mein Kampf”. (Hitler’s political manifesto)

The annual Harbin Ice & Snow Festival this year is the biggest ever:

If you haven’t got enough of the cold where you are the best time to visit is in February.

PS> Chinese New Year’s Day this year falls on 10. Febr. The week before and after CNY maybe not the best time to travel in China, however.

You will probably not find this sculpture in Harbin:

From Newsweek today:

Chart Shows China’s Economy Losing Ground Against US

Though China announced with fanfare last week it had exceeded its goal of 5 percent economic growth last year, an economist has pointed out that in current dollar terms its economy grew by the slimmest margin in decades…

Accounting for inflation, China’s nominal GDP growth was not 5.2 percent but 4.6, “the lowest in almost 30 years,” economist George Magnus, an associate at the University of Oxford China Centre, told Newsweek Tuesday.

In nominal terms, China’s GDP fell to $17.5 trillion and slipped a percentage point to 17 percent of the global total, Magnus said…

…The United States’ global share was about 25 percent in 2022 and rose by 6 percent to approximately $27 trillion last year…

In his New Year’s Eve address, Chinese leader Xi Jinping gave a rare acknowledgment of some of the nation’s financial difficulties, saying Chinese businesses “had a tough time.”…

Data from top financial institutions like the World Bank show the gap between the two largest economies widened further last year. China’s economy was just two-thirds the size of its geopolitical rival, down from 70 percent in 2022 and 76 percent in 2021.

Real economic changes USA re: China: we are importing less from them. Hence, in part, the news cited in the post preceding this one. From the new article:

New data released on Wednesday showed that Mexico outpaced China to become America’s top source of official imports for the first time in 20 years — a significant shift that highlights how increased tensions between Washington and Beijing are altering trade flows…

America’s total trade deficit in goods and services, which consists of exports minus imports, narrowed 18.7 percent. Overall U.S. exports to the world increased slightly in 2023 from the previous year, despite a strong dollar and a soft global economy…

…In 2023, U.S. quarterly imports from China were at roughly the same level as they were 10 years ago, despite a decade of growth in the American economy and rising U.S. imports from elsewhere in the world. “We are decoupling, and that’s weighing heavily on trade flows,” Mark Zandi, the chief economist of Moody’s Analytics, said of the United States and China…

For First Time in Two Decades, U.S. Buys More From Mexico Than China - The New York Times (nytimes.com)

China is toast, hasnt needed the rest of the world to help they are imploding due to their own management.

They had a chance to become an economic powerhouse but they decided operating with their own rules and trying to take over the world by any means was part of the plan.
They have no friends, cant feed themselves and need a huge amount of resources from the rest of the world.

The USA will power ahead regardless of any current issues due to the fact they have the customers and the resources. Mexico is right next door for all the industry’s being re homed.

Resource and produce hungry, with a underperforming economy.

How long before they decide they don’t want to pay for the resources and produce, and just decide to take them ?

The PRC builds a new coal fired power plant every few weeks, use the most fossil fuels and have the western world over the barrel with ownership of 85% of the lithium and rare earth metals. Meanwhile leftist village idiots such as OMBUGGE and other eur limitations imposed by soemthing called Euro-trash Marxists and American Democrat Communists are tirelessly at work crippling our oil, LNG and coal industry with th estark relaity that wind and solar cells have very abrupt limits imposed by Physics. The solar cycles are responsible for the current warming trend. Vikings grazed sheep in southern Greenland and the middle ages and late Roman imperial period saw warmer temps than now but are conveniently ignored by the leftist indoctrinated haters of western civilization.
