when you already have export grants to cover any profit what bonus is a free port?
so no innovation before but now they will?
export to who?
good press I guess?
Maybe you should read the article. “Pilot Free-trade Zones” not Freeports.
(Although the freeport projected on Hainan Island did get a mention)
the Chinese have Piraeus as a free port, well till the authorities caught them…
China is a long way away from me in terms of distance, but I feel it’s influence on me daily. Some time ago I found this book by James Kynge
titled, “China Shakes the World: A Titan’s Rise and Troubled Future – and the Challenge for America”. What he speaks of is NOT what I learned about back in school days.
I would highly recommend this well rated book if you would like a view into the insides of today’s China.
you have to understand there are Chinese people who have been all over the world for hundreds of years that fit into all the societies that they are in without any trouble.
Then you have the ccp, the commie party, thats a whole other thing and in no way is representative of the population although a huge amount of propaganda, effort and money is spent demonizing the rest of the world to ensure the ccp stay in power.
( or to prove the the commie system is the better system but that has failed just about everywhere hasnt it. One day the population end up being informed and have enough education to want a say in how things run, and thats goodbye commie.)
Here’s an interesting read from the wayback machine:
Except for the “forced to slash its bloated military budget” comment there seems to be a lot of truth. Especially the bit about " a far-right patriot captures the presidency with thundering rhetoric"
The uber patriot always seems to precede the fall of a nation.
Economic Decline: Scenario 2020
"After years of swelling deficits fed by incessant warfare in distant lands, in 2020, as long expected, the U.S. dollar finally loses its special status as the world’s reserve currency. Suddenly, the cost of imports soars. Unable to pay for swelling deficits by selling now-devalued Treasury notes abroad, Washington is finally forced to slash its bloated military budget. Under pressure at home and abroad, Washington slowly pulls U.S. forces back from hundreds of overseas bases to a continental perimeter. By now, however, it is far too late.
Faced with a fading superpower incapable of paying the bills, China, India, Iran, Russia, and other powers, great and regional, provocatively challenge U.S. dominion over the oceans, space, and cyberspace. Meanwhile, amid soaring prices, ever-rising unemployment, and a continuing decline in real wages, domestic divisions widen into violent clashes and divisive debates, often over remarkably irrelevant issues. Riding a political tide of disillusionment and despair, a far-right patriot captures the presidency with thundering rhetoric, demanding respect for American authority and threatening military retaliation or economic reprisal. The world pays next to no attention as the American Century ends in silence."
Which amazes me:
You can’t export your own spying devices to Iran.

The violent clashes in the US are not all that violent and they’re very localized. Nothing in comparison to the sadness of Nigeria right now.
The Chinese communities don’t exactly fit. They keep themselves separated. You have little Chinas in every major metropolis, with a lot of people not even speaking English. That is not blending in.
However, the Chinese have been amazing in helping create the American roads and railways and were seriously exploited, perhaps due to the systemic racism of the time and their own desire to stay separate.
I would say they do blend in as they dont cause any issue and dont ghettoize a town like many other groups do and dont expect anyone to look after them except their own families.
Not yet anyway.
When the depths of political corruption and the slide into what might best be described as a fascist oligarchy finally dawn on those who make the most noise at rallies today and who will suffer the greatest when their dream comes true we will see an American Venezuela at best and a Tianenman Square at least.
Are you talking about China?
China has the largest Education System in the world, with a compulsory 9 years schooling for all.
Adult literacy rate has reached 96.8%:
Those who are illiterate are mostly over 60 years old.
so maybe sooner than later
The gov looking very nervous now, I think they declared war on everyone lately…
That tends to be true of ANY group of 1st generation immigrants.
You are assuming an informed populace. As long as they stay in their own echo chamber than can be enlisted to herding people to internment camps and into gas chambers. Remember it was the aggrieved “middle class” that brought Hitler to power and did his work for him. The industrialists supported as well as contributed to the Reich and reaped the profits but unlike those that did the actual dirty work they were never held accountable. I owned stock until recently in one of the companies that was part of the consortium that made Zyklon B gas used to kill millions. Bayer.
You are correct, they will blame their victims.
Oh, no. Things are not that bad. It’s just the elections in November. If things were that bad, immigrants would leave the US. It’s still better than South America as a whole.
We’re not there just yet but what makes you think the results of the elections will solve the current political divide and escalating violence?
In China the Covid-19 pandemic is taken serious:
That is why the Chinese economy is likely to be the ONLY major economy to show growth this year:
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-10-18/china-s-rebound-helps-to-stabilize-a-shattered-world-economy
The media likes to hype things beyond reality. Whether it’s CNN or Fox News, it’s all a big hype because of elections this year. The two parties lie about there being a divide between them. The truth is, in fact, there is a divide between the two parties and the people they claim to represent. When it comes to violence, I think making it out to be something like Afghanistan doesn’t really represent the truth in the US.
There needs to be a third party to break the monopoly.
