You can add dictators and other tyrants to that list. Given the political gerrymandering that is prevalent you add whatever political party has the majority in the respective State as well.
John Pilger, the British award winning war reporter and film maker made a documentary called The coming war on China in 2016. It is now being aired on Al Jazeera:
But if you have a couple of hours to spare, it is available in full on Vimeo:
Of course it is one man’s view of the past, present and future and will not find favour by everybody. If you are not afraid of seeing and hearing other people’s view it may be worth your time to watch it.
Which makes them different from the USA, UK, EU etc in what way?
I actually want to see you excuse the following two contemporary examples of rejoining with the motherland like you do for China:
-
Russia reclaims Crimea. After all, the 2014 referendum conclusively showed 97% of the votes reported favored rejoining Russia.
-
Israel continues to settle their ancestral lands. The Palestinians abandoned the lands so why shouldn’t Israel occupy it?
I say the two examples above with a bit of sarcasm. Now fast forward a few decades:
- The island of Taiwan rejoins with glorious China. A few generations of re-education should make the reunion a happy one!
I’d agree with you that China will take over Taiwan some day. They will use the tools of political and economic isolation to crush the resisters. However, that doesn’t excuse a glib attitude towards their fait accompli.
By the way, when are your people retaking England?
There will be no war pages. By the time any survivors have learn to read and write again the world will be about 10,000 years older.
Good luck with that. He has proven wholly incapable of even admitting his hypocrisy much less justifying it. In reality, I think his answer would be “because one is China and the others are not”.
Do you have any recent example of a country using the tool of economic isolation and sanctions to force their will on another country??
After Brexit parts of UK may want to join Norway in some sort of union(??).
Although England is not likely to be that part. (Except York maybe??)
Vinland may be next to want a reunion.
PS> We missed the possibility to take back Shetland, Orkney and Isle of Man when the Brits were preoccupied in the South Atlantic back in the early 1980s.
When you can accept any other opinion than your own I may consider changing mine.
First of all, no you won’t. Your track record here shows that.
Secondly, I’m not asking you to change any opinion…merely to justify your hypocrisy. Now a second user of this forum has called out your hypocrisy and yet again you have failed to respond to his direct question and instead have deflected to unrelated matters. ATFQ!
A reference to the current US/Iran dynamic…please, by all means make the case how the world is a better place with an Iranian nuclear weapons arsenal. Perhaps an “Understanding Iran” thread is appropriate?
I don’t know what is your definition of “hypocrisy” but it appears to be, any opinion other than mine.
Is that the only case you could think of? There are several more only in the last couple of years. More if you go back in history a bit.
Withdrawing the US from the JCPA has just hasten the day when you can add another country (or several) to the list of nuclear powers. A stroke of (stable) genius.
Very well put as the JCPA didn’t do shit to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons it just delayed it (for enough years for the stable genius who engineered to be out of office long enough to wash his hands of it).
No, but I was sure that’s what you were referring to based on your track record of anti-US slants to virtually everything you post here.
Since this is the “Understanding China” thread, I welcome a discussion on how China is using its BRI to prey on economically desperate countries. Where to start?
the people can vote them out ever 4 years and they do
Most of the world on South Africa, its such a better place now…
Sanctions worked on Gadaffi, he finally came to the table which was funny as when Blair was there the EU and USA stopped a ship with nuclear weapons he was buying he said he didnt have…
The ship did not have nuclear weapons. The BBC China was carrying gas centrifuges for use in uranium enrichment.
True, like that beacon of democracy Russia
Let’s hope that at least the voters in a couple of the countries you mentioned will do just that at the next opportunity.
An old one but a good one for the sheer lunacy of it all:
