Two Year Anniversary of Francis Scott Keys Bridge Collapse

While it’s nice they started rebuilding & have 70% of the design completed it’s disappointing they won’t have it replaced until 2030 & still don’t know how much it will cost. All because of a piece of faulty wiring 1/6th the width of a shoestring?

_______________

From the Article:

“Maryland officials are expecting to complete negotiations with the state’s contractor to determine the final cost in the coming months. Officials are aiming to open the new bridge to traffic in 2030.”

Recorded the “Nova” episode, but haven’t watched more than a few minutes yet. Curious to see how accurately and deeply they go into it.

want of a horseshoe nail…….

I was just to quote the whole thing when I saw yours :winking_face_with_tongue: naughty boy.

Hell of a wire .Despite allegedly botched and faulty connection it had withstood all this horrible vibrations for 10 odd years requiring container lashing turnbuckles with hooks welded in order to minimize the amplitude and intensity of vibrations. While all this heavy duty improvised things failed repeatedly and had to be re-improvised this tiny little piece of wire never failed untill the bridge incident. What a coincidence.

Nothing to do with a poorly protected bridge or no tug escort then.

Easier to blame those Jonny foreigners.

As of March 2026, several crew members of the Dali container ship remain “marooned” in Baltimore, Maryland, nearly two years after the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse. While not under physical arrest, around nine to 11 senior crew members from India and Sri Lanka are required to stay in the U.S. for ongoing legal proceedings.

Key Details on the Dali Crew:

  • Legal Limbo: The crew members are held in the U.S. due to legal obligations, with some having provided depositions regarding the March 26, 2024, incident.

  • Living Situation: They are not confined to the ship but are restricted from returning home, living in Baltimore with support from the Apostleship of the Sea and the ship’s operator, Synergy Marine.

  • Safety Findings: The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) found no fault with the crew’s conduct, concluding they acted to the best of their ability to avoid the collision.

  • Movement: While many have been stuck for over 19 months, some crew members were granted permission to visit their families in early December 2025.

The crew has been described as “hanging in there” and is staying “optimistic” despite their uncertain situation, according to Tradewinds News

Well , Stena crew did not cause the collision with small container feeder although their action prior collision was to say the least debatable .

And their investigation lasted ca 36 hrs so they could go home to collect medals.

What in the @#$%!. They making ‘em live in Baltimore?! I’m pretty sure minimum security federal prisons are nicer & safer than living in Baltimore. If they get convicted of anything it would be a Godsend.

The closest thing in the E/R to an act of God or force majeure is

LATENT DEFFECT.

Although some claim that after carefull scrutiny it still can be traced to human error.
