Got to take a tour of the Q4000 Well Intervention Rig on sunday. Pretty sweet to get to talk to the chief engineer about why they did in the BP spill. I really enjoyed getting to see all the different DP controls. Also learned alot about getting involved in the DP industry. 3rd mate DPO graduated from TAMUG in 2007 and is already a mate onboard. Cant wait to graduate from Texas Maritime Academy and get started on my career. Also, hey everyone, im new :stuck_out_tongue:

Its actually operated by Helix Energy Solutions, and was originally operated by Cal Dive International.

Not sure if true or why if it is but I heard they get paid much more on there than the other Helix vessels.

Well I dont know how much they make on other Helix vessels however I do know that the 3rd mate DPO makes “a fair bit more than 500 [a day]” (his exact words).
