I’m currently researching for my master’s thesis how maritime professionals balance sustainability, safety, cost, transit time, and operational continuity during periods of maritime security risk.
I’m especially interested in situations such as the Red Sea and Strait of Hormuz, where safer routing or operational decisions can also increase costs, fuel use, and emissions.
I’d be very interested to hear your views: when security risks increase, should sustainability remain a major priority, or is it reasonable for safety and operational continuity to take precedence?
I’m also collecting responses through a short anonymous survey for the thesis. It takes around 5–7 minutes:
Any discussion or survey responses would be greatly appreciated.
