when I worked for Crowley/TMT the wheelhouse was SIU…can’t recommend it…kind of like being a “redheaded stepchild”!!

Yes they do. Crowley, Allied and Penn are top to bottom SIU with the exception of the west coast. Most of the harbor tugs on the Gulf coast are SIU.
Not the Capts at Penn. They’re mgmt. Don’t know abt Crowley and Allied.
Crowley and Allied are. I think Express also. I heard that on Moran tugs under SIU contracts, the capts are mgmt.
Most of the Crowley tugs and ATBs on the West Coast, capts and mates are MM&P and crew are IBU.
It has been years since I sailed with Crowley, but on the east coast and Gulf, they were SIU top to bottom when I was there. In '87 I scabbed a west coast strike. I believe it was the IBU up in Seattle that were on strike. Those of us that went were crewed out of the San Francisco office (back when they had one) and put to work under a MEBA agreement (I was an engineer). I believe that the wheelhouse was MM&P but I could be mistaken. It was a little while ago, don’t you know. This was before they bought MTL and had the ATB’s. We were running Invader/Sea Swift/Robin class tugs up and down the coast, from Washington to California.

Moran NY is 333 except Captains which are mgmt. Crowley & Allied are SIU in all positions. Express is SIU for deck & AMO for engineroom & barge.
