Ships Figureheads & Naval Technical Museum La Spezia

The family & I visted a really cool naval/maritime museum today & the kids were actually interested in some of the exhibits. It was the Italian Naval Technical Museum La Spezia. It had a lot of technical/engineering stuff but the part I liked the best was the figurehead wing with about +40 giant bow figureheads. The oldest was from 1783 & newest was from a training ship built in 1928. The question they asked me that I couldn’t answer was why don’t ships have these cool statues on the front of them anymore?

While you are in the area, visit the marble quarries at Carrara and climb the terraces of Cinque Terre. Nice region for big yachts. So much to see, drink, and eat!

You are right about that. Hiking Cinque Terre is the reason we made a stop in this region of Italy. Tomorrow we finish our last hiking section of the 5 villages, Vernazza to Corniglia. Today was a non walking day due to the thousands & thousands of steep steps on the last 2.
