Two of the crew on board jumped into the sea when the cargo ship capsized while it was docked in Hendvågen .
A cargo ship moored at Hendvågen in Averøy capsized on Friday morning.
This was reported by operations manager Leif Arne Mork in the Møre og Romsdal police district to Tidens Krav at 11.25.
The boat has a crew of five people.
The police confirmed early on that everyone on board had made it ashore.
– Two of those on board jumped into the sea and swam ashore themselves. The other three walked dry-shod from the boat to the quay, said Odd Halvor Gustad.
Gustad is the general manager of Henda Pukk AS. The boat was moored at their quay when it capsized.
– It had finished loading gravel when it suddenly tipped over onto its side. We don’t know why. Now it’s leaning against the quay. The hold is half full of water, Gustad said.
A sludge suction machine has been ordered, and Gustad hopes that the boat will right itself once they have emptied the hold of water.

Warm and dry clothes
According to Gustad, none of the five crew members were injured after the incident, but two of them were naturally wet.
– It’s not the worst day to get wet, but they have been given warm and dry clothes. An ambulance is on the scene, but there is no need for medical assistance, said Gustad.
No signs of oil spill
Rescue leader Siv Namork at the Main Rescue Center said at 11:31 that they had just been informed that there were five people on board the boat, and that everyone had made it safely to shore.
“We don’t have anyone on site at this time. We don’t know if the boat has sunk or if it’s sinking,” she said.
– Since everyone on board has made it ashore, the Norwegian Coastal Administration is taking over, she said.
The police wrote on their messaging service at 11:37 that the boat had capsized and that two people ended up in the sea in connection with the incident.
– Ambulance is on site. Fire and rescue boat are on their way, wrote operations manager Mork.
At 12:07, the operations manager wrote that there are currently no signs of diesel or oil spills, but that the Norwegian Coastal Administration has been notified.
The police are on the scene and are questioning those involved. The Norwegian Maritime Authority has also been notified.

Cargo ship sank to the bottom – plans to raise it
But first the boat must be unloaded.
At 1:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon, police reported that a cargo ship carrying stone had capsized. It was at the quay in Hendvågen in Averøy.
Two of the crew had to jump overboard and swam to shore. Five others made it ashore.
On Friday, Knut Lasse Torhus, CEO of Torhus Shipping, which owns the ship, said that there was water in the hold and that the ship was at the bottom. He hoped they would be able to salvage the boat. He had no idea what caused the capsizeing.
On Monday, Torhus told NRK that the boat must be unloaded before the lifting can begin, and that he does not believe it can happen in the next few days.

On Tuesday evening, Norsk Berging AS announced that the casualty “Torvang” will be raised on Wednesday.
– We will start the lift at lunchtime, estimates general manager Lars Lønning to Tidens Krav.
– At least that’s the plan. We’ve had some challenges and some remain, he adds.
On Tuesday, the crane barge “Hebo Lift 9” arrived at Henda Pukk on Averøya, where the cargo ship “Torvang” listed during loading on May 23.
The wreck has been emptied of sand, scrap has been lifted up and away – and lifting cables have been in place since Monday.
It has taken a bit longer than first expected. “Torvang” to the surface:
The cargo ship “Torvang” of Molde has come up from the bottom in Hendvågen. The crane company has taken it easy. Whether it has returned to speed is doubtful, but large ships have been raised in Averøy before and put back into service. Example “Milos” 2800 t at Røsandflua. (Photo from Facebook Inge Knudsen)
Still a bit to go before she can be towed to the breakers, or for repairs.

On Thursday morning, “Torvang” is literally back on track, ten days after work began to salvage the cargo ship on Averøya.

The Torvang has been re-floated, de-watered and inspected.
Now has been towed way for scrapping:
The ms “Torvang”, which sank at the quay in Hendvågen on May 23 will be scrapped. The damage from salt water was too extensive for the 57-year-old freighter based in Molde, where the shipping company is Torhus Shipping.
