Sent certificate in late

I just turned in my application to sit for dde1000 exams and realized my advance firefighting cert. is 2 days past one year. How strict are they with this. I got it from MPT in fort laud. Fl maybe they give refresher coarses if this does not work out.

Certs are usually “live” for a year. If you waited 367 days, sounds like you will be taking it again.

I was 14 months from when i took the pic tank class, to when i finally submitted the paperwork, due to changing employers. If i where you, use a license consultant. Also, if you can, wait till you have the time and just get the 4k, i recently went thru this, and its a pain to be 68 days shy, sit, then refile to upgrade.

Read the cfrs, or try the nmc website. Your aff cert is good for 5 years before you have to the do the class of you don’t have it on a license. I took mine when I was a wiper and 4 years 11 months later I submitted mine for my first license.

If you have to use a license consultant, that says mountains about your ability to follow directions and search for answers.

Yeah the 200.00 to have my questions answered, paperwork filed right and be drama free for my first license really sounds like a foolish thing to do. Oh wait, let me pour over the CFRs, ask any questions i have to a government contractor named “Shaniqua” and hope that my paperwork doesnt get caught up in the NMC grinder. Hey, maybe your better prepared than i am, i will give you that one, but i felt it was money well spent.

See 46 CFR 11.205(d): “…The course must have been completed within five years before the date of application for the officer endorsement requested.”

The only courses limited to one year are courses that substitute for a Coast Guard exam, and first aid/CPR for an original license.[

So… I have Tankerman Assist (DL) and a letter from a shipping company, signed on letterhead and with the signature of the master of the vessel (600 foot 50,000 DWT oil tanker) which details all my loads and discharges while there…How long do I have to eubmit that letter for Tankerman PIC (DL)? Is it 5 years from the date of the letter or from the date of the last load and/or discharge?
