Senate holding hearings on B1-2 visas

Senate committee is considering hearings on B 1-2 visa loophole where California utility is forcing it’s employees to train their replacements for less pay.Anyone heard anymore on this? Sounds like what has been going on in the merchant marine for decades.

I heard of this. My brother is also in IT and this isn’t exactly new in the computer industry. They need to organize and push back. NFW would I train a replacement unless he/she is there to take over because I’m leaving of my own accord. I’ll go panhandle on the street first.

to add: fortunately my brother now does IT work as a gov’t contractor, with a TS clearance, fortunately no H1B can replace him now.

Harley Davidson is/ was caught up in the same scam. The subbed out some work to a foreign company, and a female employee from Wisconsin was assigned to train her foreign replacement. Law suit filed maybe 18 months ago.

Honeywell has been doing the same thing for years. American engineers are required to train Indian engineers to replace them. Even for US Government contract work.

Its long past time to clamp down on the excessive issuance of unnecessary visas for foreign workers. Everything from maids, nannys, actors, seamen, IT experts and computer wizards. Alternatively, let them have as many visas as the want, so long as they hire two America trainees at the same salary.

If we had a genuine American Professional Mariners Association, it is just possible they might get a voice at these hearings but instead we have this ultra lame Jack Hearn led three ringed clown circus!

Hey Jack, do something useful for us American mariners because it is the right thing to do and not to make money for yourself. You might even win a few who will contribute but not until you show us you are a leader and not a leech!
