I need a list of USN qualified Gas Turbines and/or Ship Service Turbine Gensets.
I am especially interested in so called mid range hardware in the 8-10 MW / 10K-15K SHP. I cannot find any USN vessels with this size unit.
If you know of a gas turbine or genset that you worked on board a USN vessel list it here and I can compile the list myself.
Thanks
Rex
I know the mains are all GE LM2500 derivatives but for auxiliaries? Maybe Solar Turbines?
Try Janes. If not in there then most likely classified.
This should help: www.public.navy.mil/surflant/ddg57/Pages/Characteristics.aspx
The older FFGs had Alison 501-K17

This is going off topic a bit but as an ex-puddle jumper I want to point out that the first U.S. ship to use gas turbines was not Navy but Coast Guard.
My first ship, WHEC-721, had two 18,000 hp gas turbines in a ship a little over 3000 tons.
K.C.
The Reliance Class had two turbines designed to run on the same shaft and at the same time as the diesels. I was on WMEC 619 and they shut down the diesels to run the turbines but at 1000 hp each it wasn’t very impressive. They pulled them out later.
Coast Guard Medium Endurance Cutters (WMEC’s) were tested to define … combined diesel and gas turbine (CODAG) plant. In 1975 the gas … and operational characteristics of the 210’ WMEC (Reliance Class)
In MARAD’s RRF there is the GTS Admiral Callaghan. We have a forum member well schooled and qualified in Gas Turbines. Should he see your thread I’m sure he can add useful comments.
Little side note, I believe the newest class of DDGs will be using Roles Royce gas turbines instead of the GE LM2500 derivatives. Huge blow to GE.
