Has anyone heard that they are no longer putting radar endorsement on your license?
Mine was printed Monday and it’s on there.
I renewed mine in August. I got the certificate and asked Falck-Alford “what next, does the USCG send me something” .
They said, no.
I called USCG and they said I could send in the cert and my license and they would put it in the booklet, OR when I renew I, I can do it all then.
USCG then stated I need to carry the cert with me, that covers it. That was my situation.

If it is current when you renew, it’s put on the MMCX. The only thing that’s not there is an expiration date. You have to carry or have quickly available a course certificate to show it’s up to date.
If your endorsement is not current, you won’t get the endorsement when you renew. Without the endorsement on thew MMC you’re not qualified for radar and have to apply to have it put back on.
I heard they were not putting it anymore that it will be a negative endorsement.
Should the radar endorsement have been put on my license when I upgraded? I just upgraded to a 500 ton Ocean Master. I submitted the radar certificate with my paperwork when applying for the license, but the endorsement was not put on my license.
It is supposed to but, it shouldn’t matter because you would of had to do RADAR to get a 500t and everyone knows that. But if your worried about it you can have the nmc send you the sticker for it.

I renewed radar after my last mmd renewal/upgrade and so it is not on there(it was expired). It sounds like you are saying having the renewal cert with me isn’t good enough and I need to send it in and have it added. Is that the case?
I found this online…
To summarize and restate, if you are working on a vessel that is required to have radar observers, you must have the “Radar Observer” endorsement on your MMC, and thus you need to show it is current and up to date at the time you renew your MMC. If it’s not current at renewal, you won’t get the endorsement, and you will need to have it added before you can serve on a vessel that needs Radar Observers.

Is Radar endorsement issued as a sticker for he MMC? I will be submitting my Original certificate in two weeks and was curious if this will be a reprint of book or added as a sticker and if I need specific wording to be assured it is added to my booklet.
Thanks.

It will be a sticker if you are not renewing your MMC.

Everything except renewals is a sticker. That means if you upgrade your license and don’t also ask for a renewal of everything else you have, you will get a sticker and the expiration date of your MMC stays the same. If you want a new MMC that is good for five more years you have to also ask for renewal.
What happens when the book has no room for more stickers? New book?
One of my friends who works for Alaska Marine Highway said that most guys have two MMCs by the time they finish writing all of the pilotage. Seems like when you renew they could possibly stitch in a few extra pages, but it’s the USCG and what they do never makes sense and always takes forever.
